When would you expect interest to accure from after this transfer?

Bit of a painful transfer but got there in the end.

* Upgraded my Santander ISA to a 1yr fixed on 19th March.
* Filled out a transfer form online which was dated 19th March, but posted it with 20th March's collection. 1st class.
* There was a mistake by Halifax & the account got closed instead of a partial transfer. Phone calls & complaints later, it finally gets sorted.
* The money is showing as having moved OUT of my Halifax account on 30 March
* It's showing as credited to my Santander account 3rd April.

So when would you expect interest to accrue from? 3rd April, or would you expect it beforehand?

I received a letter(as did my husband) from Santander a couple of weeks after opening their 2 year fixed rate Major ISA.

It said that interest would be paid from the date the funds left my old provider.
So I would assume you will receive a letter, telling you the interest will be paid from the 30th March.

I sure hope so, considering that between them, they royally mucked up this transfer.

I contacted Santander via their "secure messaging" service, but i wont hold my breath for a reply. All i seem to get from their "SECURE" messaging service is a reply telling me to phone one of their numbers.
I could find that out myself. I thought this SECURE service was supposed to be worthwhile (like Nationwides).

In my (short) experience with the Santander internal messaging system, it looks as if it is staffed by people with only some very basic skills and knowledge. They can deal with VERY simple questions - and even though you and I would agree that your question is simple - this question looks too hard for them.

You might have to ring them.....try one of their freefone savings application numbers (like 0800-092-2212) - you can usually find an option on there to speak to someone about an existing account. Though they close early-ish, think 8pm on weekdays is the latest I have been able to use an 0800. Otherwise it would be an 0845 number, and you might burn up all your ISA interest by the time you got a satisfactory answer!
