Talk Talk are offering me unlimited broad band + unlimited anytime calls for £9.50

Any thoughts about this deal:
Unlimited broad band 16-19MB speed
Unlimited any time land line / 0845/0870 calls
TOTALLY FREE FOR 12 MONTHS

All I pay is for the line itself:
option one: up front for a year £114 (=£9.50 per month)
option two: monthly £14.50

No connection charge, free router, 12 month contract.

I asked for this to be emailed to me.

I am a bit hesitant about the 1 year in advance payment.

what are your thoughts?

Read the termination charges when you want your line back.

    Thanks, Vax2002
The agent said that there are no termination charges after the (free) 12 month period.

The small print on the web site about the £114 up front states:
Available to customers paying £114 in advance for 12 months by debit/credit card. Representative to £9.50 a month. Saving of £60.00 with Value Line Rental compared to monthly line rental of £14.50. Standard early termination charges still apply. Customers currently on discounted line rental will lose their existing discount. TalkTalk reserves the right to charge line rental to the full price of £14.50 should the initial upfront payment be reversed or changed back. We will contact you to let you know when your Value Line Rental is coming to an end to give you the opportunity to renew.

What about the Return To Donor costs to take the line from TT LLU back to BT Wholesale?

Return to donor is free (but requires you to take 12m line rental from BT of course).
The line rental costs are the standard TT terms.
On the face of it, a very good deal if you can put up with the dreadful TT level of customer service.
TT is fine until something goes wrong, then you find out why they're so cheap.
What you don't say is what you are paying now?

    Really appreciate the great insight.
Right now I am paying Virgin Media £23 a month going up to £25 for unlimited broad band and evening+w'end calls. Due to new £2 increase I am now a free agent.
On an ADSL line (avg about 10Mb upload and 1Mb download).
I practically make no telephone calls, but can not have cable service.

I live in the city centre, so 12 out of 13 operators are open for me.

Qustion: will I always have to go back via BT once the 12 month contract is over? Right now Sky are offering 9 months at half price + £100 Quidco cash back - which is almost as good as this TT offer!

    Any thoughts about that?

Your contract doesn't end at 12m, your minimum term ends. No one can say what deal you will be offered beyond that, but TT LLU services are cheap anyway.
LLU to LLU transfers are technically possible, but rarely seem to happen in practice, Sky are one of the few providers who can sometime do them, But it's best to assume that (unless you want to pay) you'll need to do a return to donor to BT. That still means of course that you can place your broadband where you wish, once you are back on the BT network.
Are Sky available LLU? If not, forget it, as you'll be on Sky Connect.
PS: you have a choice of many more than 12 ISPs, samknows only lists the LLU operators, not all the dozens of BT resellers.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Thanks. Yes. Sky are one of the LLU possibilities.
I shall wait for the promised email detail from TT and hope it states: "no activation/connection/donor transfer fees etc"
In the meanwhile, I shall try and get Sky to match this deal, as it seems that Virgin are totally un-interested in keeping me...

There is no such thing as a 'donor transfer fee'.

TT's call centre support is abysmal BUT they run multiple support forums (very like this one) for their customers and they answer queries very quickly and in easy to understand terms.
Also, other contributors/readers of the forums chip in with their advice, too.

Of course, if your query involves the phrase "am unable to connect to TT server", you are left with just the telephone support or use another network.

Like many other clients of Talk Talk who have been deceived and treated like a piece of their residual.... I paid a broadband package and the installation fee to their company. The only day avaialble for the installation was 2 weeks after I did the payment. Showing great customer service they kept nagging me on texting on my mob phone everyday reminding me that I had to be home for that day as an engineer was coming to do the installation.
And you know what???!!!!! Only 12 hrs before the installation was taking place I get a text from their company "Good News! It isn`t neccessary for an engineer to visit your premise to set up your new line. So the visit that was scheduled for 30/04/2012 will not take place. You can set up your router and start enjoying your new phone and broadband service from Monday afternoon. Please do not reply to this message."
Why on hell do you need to charge me an installation fee when Your Company is not bothering to come and serve me for what I am being charged???????
I have spent more than 20 pounds calling them from my mob phone as they were passing my phone call from one department to another. And do you know what one of their employees of the New Line Department told me after receiving my phone call????? "Why are you calling here?" like she was too bothered to take my phone call. Instead of welcoming their customers with "How can I help you?"

I just want to find a way how to sue them. This is outrageous. What should I expect from them after few months???
