Just wondering if there is an answer to the user's original question. I have the same scenario where I dont bank with halifax but have a mortgage with them, got 2 reference numbers but both don't seem to work with their online registration. I might just call them tomorrow...0

Also have the same issue. Eventually got though to Halifax - they said it's only really applicable if you already have another account with them, ie credit card, loan etc.
I politely told them that I thought their online registration was misleading since you can click "Mortgage" and then it asks for the "number on your latest statement" etc so then you spend ten minutes getting through to someone on an 0845 number to be told it's not possible!0 -

So invest a few seconds at Say no to 0870 and save the 0845 no....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
