Halifax Online Mortagage Management

Options
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me as I am getting nowhere with Halifax's website or online help. I have a mortgage with Halifax which I want to manage online. I have tried registering and you get an option to select what type of account you have (current/credit card/mortgage). When I select Mortgage it asks me for my account/reference number. Having looked at the statements I have from Halifax I have a mortgage roll number but when I type this in I either get a message saying incorrect format (when I put letters in or \ ) or when I just put the number in it says it needs to be between 6 and 15 characters which it is. Has anyone else just got a mortgage with Halifax that has been able to register? My roll number is in the format A/00000000-0 which I have tried to just put the numbers in between the / and the - as well as including these characters and/or letters but to no joy.

Thanks

Hi. You should also have an account number as well as the roll number, try that! I do recall having a similiar issue with mine some years back and ended up sending a secure message to them. Some how it appeared eventually. So stick with it.

    Call them on 0845 602 0000.

To be honest, the online servicing can best be described as "limited" when it comes to mortgage accounts. More brutally, "pointless" would be a better description.

I have a Halifax mortgage. I can see it online along with my current account, etc.

But calling it "online management" would be a bit of an exaggeration. I can see the balance and that's about it. It also displays a phone number to call if I want to do things like make an extra payment.

I also have a Halifax mortgage and i agree with in that the online management is poor to say the least. I've written to Halifax and asked them why customers can't view the current balance of their mortgages and asked if they have any plans to upgrade this service. They say they don't and if customers want a balance as at today's date they then we can ring up and ask. Helpful....not. We shouldn't need to do that.

Why do you constantly need to know what your mortgage balance is?

As mortgages don't require any online management as such.

I don't need to know but I want to know. It's my right as a customer to know how much my mortgage balance is. Why is that such an issue??

Would require a sizable investment that I doubt you'd wish to pay for.

Particularly when its only ever a phone call away.

But it's not your right to have an online facility built to provide it.

People oppressed and starving in the world and you're worried about your right to an online real time mortgage balance?

They will quite happily provide you with a balance over the phone when required.

Not really. See post #4. I have a Halifax mortgage and I can see the balance online. So they must already have made the investment.

I think its the real time balance but to be sure I've made a note of today's balance and I'll re-check tomorrow when it should have gone up slightly due to an extra day's interest.

It used to include interest accrued to the month end, rather than daily.

It updates the working day after a credit to the account but excludes ERCs, deeds fees and various other fees accrued but not debited to the account.
