Ideas for stuffing a kong

Please could you let me have your ideas for what to stuff in a kong? I know a lot of people suggest peanut butter, but do you mix it with other stuff and fully load up the kong, or do you just smear it around the inside so the smell is there? Can't imagine it would be a good idea to stuff the kong with a whole jar of PB?!!!
Any other ideas/suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks in anticipation!
Nice to save.

I always just pushed as many biscuits/pieces of carrot/rawhide in as possible, but then ours usually have their kongs indoors so we didn't want it too messy.

If you're not worried about the mess, you can freeze the kong.

I just had a thought; jelly kongs! Probably best made up from scratch rather than using the sugar-laden jelly blocks.

A little smear of marmite, cheese spread, peanut butter all in small quantities tho as not good for dogs in large amounts!
you can also soak some dry dog food in water til it swells stuff the kong with that and freeze so it takes ages to eat.
you can buy kong stuffing paste from pet shops but quite expensive.

If I want to amuse the dogs for a few minutes, I will smear cream cheese on the inside, I imagine this is the same with PB - as you say, you don't want to fill the whole Kong with it!
For really tough challenges, I fill it to the brim and freeze it, lasts them a lot longer. You do need to build the dog up to this challenge though, if you make it too difficult too quickly, they may just get bored.
Mine often get their normal dinner in it - they're raw fed so this is often various minces, or meat chunks.
Occasionally I'll do a fish & veg Kong - I defrost some raw fish and mixed vegetables, chuck in the blender, I might add an egg too, and whizz up. Fill the Kong with the resulting mush and freeze. Fishy Kongpops are a huge hit with my two!
Alternatively, tinned mackerals - rinse of oil, shove into Kong whole, then mash up against the insides of the Kong.
For a real quick fix, e.g. if I'm staying overnight at my mum's and want to take something to stuff the Kong with in the morning for breakfast, I might buy a tray of Naturediet wet dog food. A good quality food that's easy to mush up and stuff a Kong with.
I've occasionally scrambled a few eggs with water instead of milk, bunged up the hole in the Kong with a bit of cheese, propped the Kong upright in a pyrex jug and then microwaved the whole Kong so that the raw egg scrambles inside of the Kong itself - easier than trying to syphon scrambled egg inside and it's a bit tougher as it's not so loose in there. Do allow time for it to cool down though!

I think our pup ate his kong. he had it for about three weeks and then it dissapeared and he never went outside with it. Emptied the house trying to find it and still no joy :(

We just used to put biscuits and gravy bones in there, he liked them.

I have used mashed up bananna and natural yoghurt and freezed.

Or have smeared a bit of peanut butter or honey or primula cheese around inside of kong and put his dried biscuits inside with tiy bit of ham or chicken at the top.

I have also put scrambled egg in which is a favourite.

I have used hot water with a tiny bit of bovril to flavour it and poured it into the kong and cut up frankfurters and then frozen.

I just fill up the holes at the bottom with a bit of bread so that the filing doesn't run out.

I hope you like raw green tripe then :rotfl:

I had a disappearing Kong too. Discovered it about 4 years later, buried in a patch of long grass alongside the fence, no idea how I'd never spotted it before as I'd been on a long hunt for it!

I'm not very imaginative with my dogs kong. A smear of peanut butter and a couple of dog treats pushed inside is his favourite, I couldnt do a frozen kong cos I dont have a garden and I'm sure it would end up melting all over the carpet. My dog is afraid of jelly ... he actually will back away from it. He will eat just about anything else that gets dropped on the floor ... ice cubes are a favourite!

I used to put some of his dried food in there and smear it with beef/ chicken paste. Another thing i did was put small buscuits / bits of ham in an ice cube tray fill with water and freeze. They love it as long as you don't mind a bit of mess on the floor

Dog treats and some blocks of cheese in between, put in microwave for the cheese to melt, then turn kong round so ir goes in between the gaps inbetween the biscuits.
