Please HELP! AOL broadband

I used AOL broadband at my old address. I moved in 2005 and I am still having to suffer the £30 bill taken off my credit card each month. Having been told by Barclaycard i cannot stop this payment being withdrawn from my card until they get confirmation from AOL. I am at the end of my tether trying to contact AOL to stop this payment. I've wrote to addresses supplied, another family member has been constantly emailing them on my behalf, telephone all the non-existant number been given to me, writing threatening letters in fact everything that has been suggested to me by Citizens Advice and Solicitor.
Hopefully someone on here may have another idea to stop this going on. After 6 years of payments being taken from my Barclaycard I can no longer cope with this and I want it to stop.
Thanks for all your help in advance
J

CEO of AOL worldwide. Email to him demanding that the letter you have sent be acknowlesdged, the charges stop and a refund of all charges taken since 2005 as a minimum.
Directors Offices are teh way to go - they have teh power to make things go away taht normal complaints teams dont.
And if you do get your £2k back, donate £20 to a charity

Before you can stop the payments, you need to cancel the contract. You say you 'moved in 2005', but when did you actually give your 30 days notice of cancelling the contract? If you didn't, the contract will have vaidly continued, whether you used the service or not ,and regardless of where yoo lived.
Very bad idea to ever allow a recurring authority on a debit card. Always use a DD, which you control.
How can this have gone on for 6 years?
Emailing AOL US will not help in the least, as they have no connection with AOL UK-the latter is now just a brand of TalkTalk. So it's Dido Harding you want to call.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thankyou all for your replies. I did let them know about the cancellation of contract before I left my address and expected it to be cancelled as normal. I know six years is a long time but I have been trying since then to sort it out. Having had numerous correspondences with different AOL addresses in the UK and being given different telephone numbers to call to sort out I still got no further. I will now write to the CEO as suggested by Forum member and have also been given a Personal Account manager for Barclaycard who wants copies of my letters to AOL. I am in the process of gathering all my information and will forward them to Barclaycard. They may be able to tackle this case.
Thanks for you help

I repeat-it is TalkTalk/CPW you must contact-they now own all of AOL's UK phone and broadband interests, and have done since 2006.
It's nothing to do with AOL US.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I have been with aol for 8/9 years ,possibly another viewer can help ,there is phone number that goes to either india or ireland , I think ireland used to be about 12-3 pm ,but either were very helpful , the india people were very knowledgeable and helpfull although voice to listen to I find difficult [ my fault ] , but regardless the problem was and is allways sorted either account or technical ,the talk talk I seem to not touch ,I pay average £18 for internet ,24/7 free phone calls and for small surcharge recive discount for contacting mobiles,
what more , and never use aol site just use firefox with google .co.uk as landing page, all email is diverted through google e mail.0 -
I am new to computers etc so please bear with me. I did not know where to post this but am livid about AOL. I have been with them for 2 years and just phoned to ask why a call center keeps ringing me up saying they are AOL and then asking me lots of questions! I always refuse to answer the questions. They confirmed it was them who keep phoning so I asked what deals they have. Turns out I have been paying £15.30 per month by credit card. When I asked why they said I was paying £13.31 pm they replied "thats because we charge £1.99 pm for payment by credit cards". Sharp practise if you ask me. Please tell others to beware. Good luck with your problems with them.0

Welcome to the forum.
But perhaps you should check your credit card bills more than every 2 years then? Many utility co's charge extra for anything other than DD payments, because there is a cost of processing. No free lunch, and no free laptop
