Identifying Premium Rate Number.

I have just received my Virgin/ntl bill, and see that there is a 10 second call to a premium rate line at a cost of £1.50. As there are only two people who use the phone, me and my wife, I know we haven't made the call. How can I discover the owner of the phone number (09040498233) which is designated as a 'fixed fee call'? Naturally, I don't want to call the number. Also, I am not too keen to ring Virgin's rip-off 0845 number at 8.4p a minute. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for that. It's just that we know where we were at the time the call was made, and we certainly weren't at home. How can we have acquired the debit?

    Hi

Have a look on the saynoto0870.com site if there is a 01/02 no. for Virgin and phone them off peak or

Do Virgin have a cheaper 0845 rate eves/weekends. Otherwise ,if you can be bothered you could write (not email )to them.

If you pay by DD speak to your bank about DD guarantee.

I have been with NTL FREEDOM (DIAL UP as not in cable area) broadband and talk anytime package for about 3 years (now changed to virgin media of course) and over this time I have had some numbers like this on occassions and have queried them but they would have none of it. I live alone and I certainly did not make the calls! I could not prove it as I could not remember where I was at times of calls etc very frustrating and they were not helpful at all! All they did was start sending me itemised paper bills through the post which doesn't help at all.

Tomorrow I am taking the plunge and joining sky bb and sky talk - I hope it is not a matter of from the frying pan into the fire!!

    Virgin don't charge 8.4ppm for 0845:-

    0845. Peak 5p, Evenings 4p, Weekends 3p (Per Minute)

    From HERE

Still expensive though, and in most cases better to use BT,(if you can use BTs access code:- 1280).

That is why I put, "(if you can use BTs access code:- 1280)." as I wasn't sure if they had the cable phone line, I have Virgin as my CPS so I can access BTs 1280

But can't you have that and a BT phone line? As I said,I have Virgin CPS, but a BT phone line, I am sure (?), that I can get cable broadband and have a BT phoneline, although I will stand to be corrected:D:beer:
