Lookers Vauxhall Dealer - Wrong Spec Car Delivered

  • I had the previous Meriva which did come with a full size steel spare. I think the "new" Meriva doesn't have a spare but should have an inflation/repair kit instead. Really useful if you're stuck in the middle of nowhere at 3 am with a split/unserviceable tyre!
I did look at the new model when I was changing from the previous. I could be wrong but I seem to remember there being no spare provided which was one of the deciding factors why I didn't buy one.

No inflation kit, I reported this to them as I checked the boot recess and side panels. Still awaiting managers call but will need to check if this car does/doesnt come with spare tyre.

This meriva is the usual old shape, not the 2012 shape. Which meriva did you have?

Sorry, I wrongly assumed it was the "new" model.:o
Mine was a 2007 Club and my daughter has a 2006 Design. Both of which were supplied with a full size steel spare.
I wonder then, if yours is a "special" edition or the bean counters decided to save a few pounds towards the end of production by not providing a spare? The new shape appeared in 2010 so I can't understand why yours is the older shape and a 2011? I can't see a dealer keeping an old model car for that long unregistered.
Did the old Meriva appear in Active trim? I don't recall it did.
The new model in Active trim has a tyre inflation kit - according to Vx website. The old model had a 1.6 petrol, 1.3 Diesel and 1.7 Diesel.
The new model has a 1.4i petrol. Cruise control is standard on the new Active, are you really sure it's not fitted?
I'm confused! Surely the car you have is the new shape?

If it is the old shape Meriva it should have a spare wheel. The new one has the inflation kit and no spare wheel, though I understand the spare wheel is an option when new.

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper I've helped Parliament
I think I would prepare to reject under distance selling regs only 7 days to do that.

You can always change your mind and keep it, you won't be using the selling dealer for anything else anyway if it is too far away.

What about going to the nearest dealer and getting them to have a look at the car/specs

In the end I opted for a payment of £300 from Vauxhall Liverpool and they sent me the inflation kit. The issue has been resolved, thanks for all your comments and help.

A £300 refund is nice. However, lesson learnt - inspect any car before paying...
