Annoying Floodlight

My near neighbour, whose garden is at right angles to mine has erected a pole with a security floodlight. Its really annoying as it shines into the gardens and bedrooms of at least 5 houses (but away from their own house!). Is there anything we can do after the note asking them to angle it down or fit it with a PIR has been ignored?

That is strange isnt it, that they erect a floodlight pointing away from their own house? People normally mount them on their own property to highlight their own gardens. nowt as queer as folk is thereThe opposite of what you know...is also true0

There are restrictions under the Building Regulations I think, talk to Building Control at your District council0

Their garden is quite large and also runs along the back of a few houses, so the pole with the light is designed to illuminate their garden. Assume its a security light as there are fields on the other side of their garden.0

As far as I know - there ain't much you can do... and I speak as someone who's suffering with it myself since new rear-facing neighbours decided to fit lights that shine straight out into our rear-upstairs rooms all night - and make going to the loo in the middle of the night feel like you're taking a dump on the centre of Old Trafford football ground wiht the floodlighting on, they're that bad... never mind the fact it makes one of the bedrooms pretty much unuseable until we get blackout blinds (which I really did NOT want fitting in there) fitted.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Yes we have this problem too. Someone over the back got one which they leave on a lot of the time and then next door got one which goes off intermittently. It drives me nuts. People wonder how I can sleep in the day (I work nights), simple, there's no lights going on and off all the bleeding time!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Can you not erect likewise and therefore give them first hand experience of the problem they are causing you . Im sure a truce can be sorted once you direct your floodlight in appropriate area.0

Contact the council. You have a 'right to enjoy your property' and nuisances such as these contravene that right. The council should be able to compel them to reposition it, cap it or, if all else fails, take it down altogether."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
