If there is a church opposite a property what would be the
dis-advantages? Would it affect the price or resale of a property?

Watch out for those church bells ... we have a church near to our house (not even opposite, it's a few streets away) and the bells ring for hours every Saturday and Sunday. You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0

Surely it would be a good thing? I mean, they're nice to look at and unlikely to be noisey.
I suppose there may be lots of cars on a Sunday morning or Saturdays if it's popular for weddings/christenings. They might have a bell tower, which could be annoying0 -
could the grounds be a drinking den at the weekends"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

I have a church opposite me, and the bells ring for an hour every Sunday morning (9-10am), but, having young kids, I'm up anyway, so doesn't bother me. The main problem I have is parking - a lot of Sunday mornings I find my car is blocked in, and theres not much I can do except wait until church is finished. On the odd occassion that there is a wedding or funeral on, it can be bad then too.
On the plus side, it's a lovely view, and it's dead easy to give directions to my house! The kids love it too, my son knows he's nearly home when he can see the "turch".0 -
The church yard is normally the dead center of town0

Don't forget to find out when the bell ringers practice. Can be a good couple of hours on a weekday evening plus visiting bell ringers by the coach load at unexpected times. Does the church have a clock, if so will the chimes disturb you? Having noted all previous comments and put in my two pennorth I lived very happily opposite a church for 25 years. Loved it!0

Me too. I loved it. I could see what the time was out of my windows and the bells chimed every hour but it never annoyed me. Loved the sound of the bells drifting across the garden on sunny evenings. Yes, we had lots of cars parking on a Sunday morning, but it was the heart of the village and I liked seeing wedding guests etc and even the funeral processions. Sometimes people lined the streets, but it was touching.
I was so late, I kept them bells ringing for ages when we got married
For me, it made the house very saleable more because it was ancient, in the heart of a beautiful village and made for a lovely view.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It's OK until the zombie invasion starts I guess.
I live near a church and the only thing that bothers me is the damn bell ringing practice because it always seems to be when I'm trying to have a peaceful afternoon in the garden. That and being asked for money for it all the time. Including out of my council tax. :mad:They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
