That's exactly what I was referring to. It's scary on the credit card forum and I try to avoid it like the plague as there is no sympathy on there, though I have to admit there can be some harsh back lashes on the DFW board, like the MP who posted a SOA with no debt and an income of over £100k0

I think I read that Camuk, they were complete @rseholes to him/her. :mad:In debt no more!0 -
I'm back from Ipswich, there was noooo signal up there, I had to drink alcohol to get by...or that's what my colleagues suggested would be a good idea.... my head this morning said something more along the lines of "silly girl!!!" oops! I might be off to Scotland next week though!!!
In DFW news, I don't venture too far from the threads I'm subscribed to as they are rather scary out there. Oh and I've setup my f0lksy shop and put stock in itonly 4 large shopping bags at the moment, but I'll list some more on there tomorrow, I WILL make enough money to justify the embroidery machine I want

Yes DH had a Bcard and we experienced this issue. Also a word of warning to everyone as you get towards the end of debts, when we paid off DHs cards with the loan we ended up with extra interest to pay.
On the MBNA we got the new bill the day we completed the loan and so cleared it straight away. But when we tried to close it we had to pay interest from the statement date until the day we paid it even though we couldn't have possibly have known the balance. I work in a bank and it didn't make sense to me either. It is vaguely in their T&Cs but I still think it's not very moral or even within the FSAs Treating Customers Fairly requirements. But there you have it.
Bcard also went the same way even tough we actually called them and asked how much was left to pay we still got another bill for £50.
Hopefully as most people are reducing the balance more gradually this extra charge will only be a few pounds but do bear it in mind.My Debt Free Diary LBM March 2010

Funny you should say that... when I paid off my A&L/MBNA card I got a statement with interest on it, then I had ANOTHER statement a month later with the payment protection on it (yes, yes, I know, I know PPI EURGH!) because apparently it goes on a month after the purchase or some such rubbish.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Morning everyone - I hope all is well. I managed to give myself a migraine with all the stress (it seems my mum's sister is being mean to her too ), so spent all day yesterday in a darkened room trying not to move! Feeling much better today, and thanks for all the kind words :T.
In debt busting news, I have decided to go home for the weekend (cost £50 on the train:eek:), but some of that has been covered by cancelling my Friday night out (saving £30:T). Then had a call from mum last night to see if I can work on the farm on Saturday morning, and that will defo cover the remaining £20 plus a bit extra to treat mum to a nice home cooked dinner.
However, looks like I won't be able to make any payments this payday (grrr), but I will be getting my deposit back from the landlord (£390) and claiming £580 tax back, so hopefully June will still be a good month.:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

Hey everyone, sorry for being awol for so long. I've had a lot to deal with!
The good news is that my younger sisters are now talking to each other :j which is a big relief. I've spoken to my youngest sister and I'm going to help her buy a 2nd hand car as I told her that getting a new one would cripple her like mine did to me and I didn't want to find her £10's of thousands of pounds in debt in a few years time like I was. I put it to her that if she wants to buy a house or start a family then she has to get rid of the debt she already has otherwise she'll be stuck with a nice car but no house and no family. Which would she really want???
Anyway, I've been helping my younger sister with her business and the forecast looks pretty good for the next 12 months. So much so that she's offered me Directorship if I join!!!I've had a talk with my boss here and he fully understands and has agreed in principle to me dropping down to part time hours in August/September time until my sisters business can support me fully without having to take a significant pay cut. It means that all the hard work I do will affect my bottom line and not some corporate executive!!!
My best friend, who was having such a bad time with her family on Sunday, rang me yesterday to say that she's now a homeowner!!! Bit shocked it's happened so quick, apparently she and her mum went to look at a new apartment complex nearby and loved it so much that she put a deposit on it straight away (after haggling £10k off the price first), she gets to choose her own carpets and kitchen units etc but it will be ready to move in in 8 weeks so she's high as a kite now.
With regards to my parents, nothing has changed and nothing ever will unless they start to try to make an effort with each other. My mum is at my grandma's tonight (she goes every Wednesday) so me and my dad are going to clean, polish, scrub and tidy the conservatory and dining room so it sparkles and keep doing this a few evenings a week until we get the house the way they want it.
Anyway, enough waffle from me! I haven't managed to catch up on everyone's news so apologies. I'm hoping to get tomorrow and Friday off so should be able to catch up and update soon.
I think we have a newby so hello , I'll add you to our list as soon as I can but just get posting! let us know how are you doing and any tips/hints on how you are clearing your debts.

Hello all
Just a quickie to catch up with everyone, otherwise I get lost with this thread. Been working hard to earn swagbuks to exchange for @m@zon vouchers for DH's birthday pressies, exchanged some Mr T rewards for days out vouchers for our hol in Sept (£2.50 becomes £12.50 for a limited time:)) but haven't really been curbing my spending this weekI always seem to have a pointless blow-out just after payday, why do I do it ?
Really, should get some work done. Keep debt busting xx
EDIT: snails have chomped through most of my pea plants overnight!0 -
