When do you say enough...rat advice

Well, thank you all for the lovely replies on this thread, very well thought out and helpful.

I've been away for a week, my parents took care of the ratties. In that week the lump has grown huge and Ted has slowed down, I think it must be heavy as he is leaning to one side.

I've made an appointment for later and I doubt he will be coming back with me. I feel wretched about it.

Really sorry to hear about Ted, but I bet he's had a grand long life with you and you're doing the best thing for him.

Thanks personone, had Ted pts yesterday, vet said better too soon than too late which is very true.

Lump had become golf ball sized and defo slowed him down. Now I just have his brother Bertie, also 30 months but in fine fettle. Bit worried about him on his own but he's too old and cranky to accept a new friend.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ted Agree though, better a week too soon than a day too late, it's the hardest but kindest thing we can ever do for our pets.
