Her account is less than 6 months but her interest in moneysaving goes way back. I encouraged her to get involved because people on this thread are supportive and non judgemental.

Indeed we are, but supportive and non judgemental works both ways and we do like to see everyone benefit from such things.

You are so right. That's if i had eaten it yet. Still in the freezer. Can only eat a small bit on the food focus diet.

High blood pressure can be hereditary you know. I aiming for my BMI to be 21. It's now 24.2.

I don't smoke, drink in moderation and my cholestrol etc are all normal.

I am just one of the unlucky ones. Having a stroke looks really unpleasant so am trying to lose that last 10kg. :A

So many ailments have such a large degree of genetics involved. I recently had my cholesterol tested and its very high yet my diet is not that bad (although theres room for improvement of course) whilst many others I know eat total crap and have perfectly fine cholesterol.

I could do with losing a bit of weight too, but I just so love a really good meal. I spent years and years smoking very heavily and hence simply didnt eatand since quitting I've really discovered food and really love it.

Why is life so complicated eh? :( Good luck with the weight loss.

  • Afternoon everybody.

I just brought 2 lots of potatoes in store but did not give me extra points will have to send an email to query.

I managed to find 2 more dvd's with the sticker on still in a different Mr T's but it didn't go according to plan. The lovely SA noticed the promotion had not worked so called the manager over who advised to just cancel one of them but still give me both to honour the deal. They did not write on my receipt of anything to say I had 2 so I will make sure stickers removed 1 goes back for full refund still get to keep 1.
I think I preferred it working this way.
    Now on the 5:2 diet.

    Lost 25 1/2 lbs :j:j:j 33 1/2 lbs to go

Anyone got some good recipes for new potatoes and any advice on how to freeze them - I might be acquiring a few over the next few days!!!!

    Jumblejack or any other chefs?

    Morning, oops Afternoon all,

Have finally (almost!) caught up :)

New potatoes are good roasted, as well as other veg - this recipe looks good:

    http://amandaclairedesigns.typepad.com/amanda-claire-designs/2011/06/roasted-veg-hummus-and-baked-new-potatoes.html

It looks quite versatile and good for vegetarians or as an accompaniment to meat etc...

Just had to tax my car :(
    That's £135 gone :cry::cry:

They really are expensive things to run.
Ah well, we couldn't be without it so shall have to grin and bear it.

Simply Add for the rest of the week now though! ;) :rotfl:

Perhaps the MSE thing to do would be searching for another car.

Mines just an average family car but I've worked out that if I change it for something else thats cheaper to tax and better on fuel (I have a target car in mind) that my saving each year will be £1500.

The difference in the resale value of my car and the one I'm after is only a few hundred quid so my savings will hit my pocket almost from the word go.

Secondly the car I'm looking at will happily run on eco diesel/waste veggie oil etc so once I've fully investigated this and filled in the necessary forms, I expect some of my fuel to legally cost me as little as 80p a litre off the supermarket shelves.

I personally consider car running costs to be my biggest target for cost savings.

EDIT.....having just checked the excise duty bands I see £135 is tax for a year rather than the 6 months I'd assumed by your comments about being expensive. Thats actually quite 'cheap'....mines 100 quid just for 6 months.....and is due next month too :(
