bensonsmum wrote: »Afternoon all, sorry but haven't really had much of a chance to catch up. Have spent the day with FIL, and im pleased (pleased may sound strange to some of you but thats exactly how i feel) to say that he passed away peacefully this afternoon, i had been with him for most of the day, his brother and an old friend from when he was at school had come to visit him but he was sleeping for most of the time, i did get a few smiles out of him but mostly he slept. I left him to go and pick OH up from work so he could see him and before i had got back he had gone and passed away. I was only saying to OH last night that i wished he could just fall asleep and go that way. He wasn't in any pain at all today which was lovely and im so happy that there was no pain come the end.
So RIP Michael you were a pain in the !!! at times but a lovely man who i don't think anybody anywhere would have had a bad word to say about. Sweet Dreams xxx
.
Sorry to hear your news about FIL if its any comfort for your OH my Mum's friends son who died on my birthday (July) last year from the same thing was in hospital more or less the whole time once he had the first unexpected collapse last May & was diagnosed, his eyesight failed & towards the end he was completely blind & unconscious for several weeks before he passed away. At least your OH could take him out in the wheelchair & spend precious time with him but its never easy.0 -
