My mum finally called me. Yes, QOC the clinic did run late, and my mum had to go for another xray and to pick up some medicine from the pharmacy.
She is going to try hormonal therapy first - a drug called Arimidex, which she will take for 6 weeks. Then she'll go to a clinic to see how well the treatment is working. If her body doesn't respond too well to the treatment, she'll have to have chemo. She asked the Oncologist outright if she 'had a future', and the Oncologist said 'Yes'. So that's a huge relief. My mum knows that the secondary cancer is not curable, but it is treatable and she could still have several years left yet.
Thank you all so much again for caring. Knowing that you're 'there' has help me immensely, and I'm sure that I've felt you sending warmth and positive thoughts.
Fingers crossed now that this treatment helps and that my mum can eventually get some kind of normality back in her life. xx
that sounds like good news - you must be so relieved:)

I'm so glad your Mums news is as positive as it can be just now ChelseaGirl, I am thinking of you......
I shouldn't say too much as my Mum has said don't tell anyone at the moment,... not until treatment starts and they have to know, but your mum and mine are going through pretty much the same thing. This is the first I have said about it to anyone.
My Mum had a biopsy week before last, which confirmed what she was dreading, a scan last week, and another to be done this friday that I am taking her to. Apparently it's not as bad as could be possible, and there is treatment for her, but it will alomst definetly be chemo and radio therapy over 5 weeks..... She is in her 70's, but pretty strong for her age and doing very well considering she had a pretty major stroke a couple of years ago. No one would think she has what she has lurking inside her, but we all have to think positive...... We just have to hope her strength pulls her through the treatment.
Its a good job I have picked myself up over the last couple of months of dealing with mine and my DS personal issues, as being my Mums carer along with my Dad, and with help from one of my sisters, I can see I am going to have to find some extra strength.0 -
For those of us who have used up most of our Cathedral City Cheese, the Price Flop magazine has £1 off when you spend more than £4 on cheese. Pilgrim's Choice is currently "on offer" at £2.19p for 350g so buy two, use the £1 off coupon then two of the Pilgrim's Choice 30p off coupons = £1.39p a pack.
