HUGE Thanks to Dopey_Sleepy_Grumpy !!! I managed to do it just in time! You are a star!!! :j0

Just logged onto SSM to have a 'congrats you have earned your gold rated sticker' alert flash up, however sticker not showing on sticker page, and no voucher for it either:(
The bronze got me a £1 voucher, the silver got me a £25 voucher, but gold doesnt seem to get you anything, is that right?
Just like the 'chosen one' I had the other day:(
And Ive also reached my print limit! (Why have they set their print limit lower than the amount of vouchers you can earn?!)0 -
I see you all appreciated Mr 3Dogs/Alan posting earlier :j :j He is always saying 'tell them this, or tell them that' and 'you've got to thank them' so I set laptop up for him to post. He has seen a few of the replies and was very touched by them
Thanks guys :A
Alan had let me have a nice lie-in this morning and he got up to watch sky sports news. I got up at noon and he went to bed at 1pm - ships that pass in the [STRIKE]night[/STRIKE] day spring to mind :rotfl: :rotfl: woke him up at 3pm to watch Sooccer Special
Alan was disappointed that his Blue Badge hasn't come yet. She said it normally takes 48 hours but the Easter weekend would make it a bit longer, but we thought it would be here by nowIf not here on Monday, I will ring CAB to check as I need to make an appointment with her anyway to get my DLA form completed as just realised it needs to be back by 26th April  As she had squeezed me in for Alan's forms, I didn't ask her to do mine then
But what an eventful night I've had
I went along to Mr T just after 6pm, had a good wander around looking for bargains no 'simply add' or king prawns in March storeand picked up a few whoopsies but nothing startling, and when I left there at 7.30pm I went further into March to the chinese takeaway and got Alan his special curry & chips he fancied today, and special rice with curry sauce for me. When I got back into the van, I put it into reverse to back round the corner I was at and heard a sharp 'twang' noise. I gave this noise little thought until I stopped and tried to put car into first gear to find it had been the clutch cable snapping and I now had no clutch  The pedal was flat to the floor and I could flop it up and down with my foot
I put it into 1st gear and then tried to start the engine but the battery was weak and wouldn't turn the engine over
Rang Alan to let him know what had happened and then rang breakdown service. I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the main road I was just off and the guy couldn't find the side road I was on using his map. But I told him roughly where I was and 15 minutes later the local breakdown truck driver rang me to confirm my location. He arrived 5 minutes later and used a jumpstart to get car going, bumping it to start the engine and drove it up the ramp onto his truck. I was pleased with the speed of recovery as I'd rang them at 8pm, guy arrived at 8.20pm and I was home at 8.45pm, so that's not bad
When I told him about Alan, the driver was telling me that his brother died of bowel cancer, which went to his kidneys, then up his spine to his brain and he'd died within 6 weeks of diagnosis which was out of the blue. He was only 24 yrs oldAt least Alan has got out of hospital and has some time pain-free to enjoy life ....... makes you think though. I know we all say enjoy life as you never know what is around the next corner, but I think I'll be going in straight lines from now on ... no corners for me   :rotfl: :rotfl:
We did have a laugh on the way home though as I told the driver that I had ice cream in the back of the van and chinese takeaway in the front, and didn't know which I should put in the cool box. I'd settled on the ice cream going in there as I waited for the breakdown vehicle as I could always reheat the takeaway but thawed ice cream?  it doesn't refreeze well
Alan was concerned about me being so long although I'd rang him again when truck arrived, and was feeling very upset when I got back as he felt useless at not being able to help or sort it out for meWe will have to get a mate to have a look at it and fit a new clutch cable if necessary
p.s. Alan enjoyed his curryMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

I've had a tough couple of days so sorry I haven't been around to catch up. I haven't taken advantage of the Simply Add glitch, infact I haven't been to T's for a couple of days. Though I had a great shop yesterday in A's and it would have been better but I had to leave lots behind as I'd already played freezer tetris for an hour earlier in the day, unsuccessfully!
But there were whole cornfed chickens for 50p, 4 pack large chicken legs 25p, Extra special turkey sausages 10p, Extra special burgers 10p, turkey steaks 10p but I left most behind! The S/A quickly retreated once she'd finished reducing and emerged 3 mins later with her coat and back pack on, promtly grabbed a basket and loaded up :T I love it when they get some, I'd be awfully depressed seeing everyone getting such bargains if I never did. There was a £12 Cars b'day cake for 50p but I resisted as the 'cake cupboard' is bursting!
As the shop has been open about 5 months, it's recently started deleting lines like the 25p picked onions! And they've all got amazing prices on them. I thought this would be store specific but I have noticed that most of the products, have been discontinued by the manufacturer and replaced with a smaller size or different flavour so I'll list them and maybe something to keep an eye out for (in A's of course;))
On the shelves there was SELs for Weetabix golden crispy mini's 500g 50p, Snowy puffs (Xmas sugar puffs) 425g 50p, Kelloggs Raisin Wheats 50p, Kelloggs crunchy nut clusters with chocolate curls 500g 50p, Alpen porridge 8 x 40g sachets (sorry I can't remember the flavours but it must be old packaging as there are still some on the shelves in the cereal aisle) There was also 80pk Chosen by you fairtrade teabags for 20p (old packaging) and Children in Need cardboard cupcake stand £2.
Most of the shelves were empty the only cereal left being the Snowy puffs. So I asked an SA if there was more stock but she checked and no luck. Gutted that I'd missed out, I went round the corner only to find a cage with a big sign saying 'discontinued stock' !! :T And about 10 boxes of Crunchy Nut and 10 boxes of Weetabix Mini's. Earliest date is October, latest is Feb 2013I only bought a couple of boxes of each as I get bored too quickly :pBut at 50p a box, I'm especially chuffed with Crunchy Nut clusters...yummmm! :j
Anyway I wanted to say I had a wonderful chat with the lovely Purdy last nightAnd she's such a darling :A and made me feel much better so I want to publicly thank you Purdy
And my 2nd reason for logging in : -
:hello:Hello Alan! :A
It's fantastic to have a post from you, thank you so much for popping in to see us
You and Susan have shown such incredible bravery and strength in recent weeks and even before your diagnosis, Susan was always a shining star on this thread with the troubles she faces with her lovely Mum. You're an absolute inspiration to me and a wonderful couple who have been dealt the most rotten hand with your illness. Unfair doesn't even come close to describing how undeserving of this fate you are and yet here you are, ever dignified and gracious. You both are a wonder to behold and I wish you continued strength over the coming months and the creation of some very happy memories for you, Susan and your loved ones :A
Lastly I want to say a huge thank you to dreamerbea, heatherlea, dizzyditzy, Mrs Jagger and desbjc for your kind wishes. I may very well have missed someone out and I sincerely appologise for that. I haven't caught up at all, I just searched for my name on the thread in the hope I wouldn't offend anyone for not noticing their kind words for me:o:o Thank you and appologies for not properly catching up :Axx
Awww Fudge....I'm filling up!!!:o
It was lovely talking to you too last night. You are a lovely girl and have always got a kind word for everyone. You obviously are a wonderful daughter to your mum too....and it's clear you have a very special relationship.
I'm so surprised you know my area so well having spent lots of holidays down here. It was almost like talking to a "local"
Look forward to another chat soon :A
xxMy husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -
I am just having a sweet cup of tea before going to bed. Dave is home and is slurring his head off! Haha!!!
Good night all. By the way, what is MMA?!!
Mixed Martial Arts. (Cage fighting essentially).
Tea?! Is that allowed in the bar?!Just logged onto SSM to have a 'congrats you have earned your gold rated sticker' alert flash up, however sticker not showing on sticker page, and no voucher for it either:(

I am going through terribly tough times with my mum. She has been diagnosed with secondary cancer, and I have got to have an MRI scan because of problems of my own.
I'm not a brave person and know that I'll struggle but hope that, in the coming months, I will be able to show even a tiny bit of the courage you have both shown already.
I just want to send you my warmest good wishes. xx
