I'm glad someone managed to get DTD on the Hardy stamp wine, took DS round 4 Ts to try and get it but all were up to date on their SELsThough I did see some 'suits' in talking to staff in 2 of these and overheard them in one talking about reducing DTDs due to OOD SELs so do think they are clamping down on this because the girl he was talking to said they had started to bring in extra night staff on Tuesdays to check dates/prices on the yellow SELs using the hand held scanners to minimise losses.
A big thank you to whoever said thank you to the original OP on the very reduced price on Lego Star Wars Wampa Cave set, I hadn't noticed this before then and spotted one today scanned at £8.50 so that's gone into my prezzie drawer/box.
I'm hoping for some good DTDs on stuff for hampers to raffle off for our summer scheme, we've been given our usual pittance of funding and need to raise a lot more for the trips because a lot of our kids this year come from very, very low income families and wouldn't be able to afford what we've charged in previous years and we don't want any of them to be left out so are planning to charge no more than £1 - £2 per trip (works out at no more than £20 for 4-5 weeks, less if more than 1 child in the family) depending on how much we have to pay for admittance and travel. Thankfully most of the trips are nearby so most of them will only be 50p but a few are a lot further away.
I just love how they think that a lot of families can afford to pay more than £40 per WEEK to send their child to one of their schemes, I'd love them to come a talk to some of our parents many work 2 jobs just to make ends meet and the rest lost their jobs but don't want their kids to miss out.
One has told me that her kids won't be at the scheme because the family can't afford to pay for more than one child and doesn't feel it would be fair to send one and not the other 2. I've told her to leave it with me and I'd see what the commitee says but can't see them making her pay for more than one when she's supported the scheme and after schools club for years. I've that meeting next Wednesday to see what they say but usually they just say for the parent to pay the registration fee only and not worry about the trip fee.
Should go well but if it doesn't we're trying to raise funds in other ways. I'm getting bags of sweets (12p ones) to sell and get us started, I'm hoping they go down well with our parents just have to get a better selection as so far have only got the love hearts and haribo heart gummies. Also thinking of asking about starting our tuck shop up again and getting reduced stuff to sell there to make a small proffit.
Sorry for long post, just typing as I'm thinking of things.
Logging off as have to write down some of my ideas to speak to our leader on Wednesday about and hope she'll let me do it
Goodnight all
Lovely idea! I get quite a few tips on here about really cheep things that i save for our PTA events! I have lots of the wine gums ready for mini prizes on a stall for our summer fair, lots of disney stockings for next christmas etc!
Just wish I had the guts and luck to stock the 'wine and water stall' with DTD wine!:rotfl:0 -

Hi,
I've just got a price check back from a receipt I only put in a few hours ago.....I think I know why it was so quick though...We're happy to confirm that your shopping was £ 7.65 cheaper at Tesco than at ASDA :eek:Erm I'm not sure if I've got the hang of this money saving.....I seem to be spending more money buying 'bargains' that I don't really need - oops!!0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Hope you're all well3rd day for me with a migraine, I felt it coming on today so took meds before it got worse. I really shouldn't be taking this much medication but I can't stand it. Mum's in bed with a migraine again too :( And was thinking of taking her to The Hunger Games tonight. Maybe next week

I am sooooo tired this morning. I was not pleased when my alarm went off :-(
Fudge-Cake- not far off, I work in what was the other one
Here's hoping today is a better bargain day for all :-D)
:TAwwwwwwwwwwwww! :A It makes me all nostalgic. It was only after we left you and came back round the corner from the new multi-story that I saw all the filing cabinets in what was the playroom and school. I have SO many memories there. Me and Mum used to wander down to John Milton and play with the babies that didn't have parents staying with them. It makes me sad it's not there anymore(I know it changed a lot a while ago to Otter and Badger, it hasn't been the same for years but it's still MY ward
)
Forgot to say....morning all!Sun is shining at the moment but it was torrential rain during the night....woke me up a couple of times!!
Lots to catch up on. Didn't stay on late last night as Fudge emailed me a copy of Twilight. Didn't know whether it was going to be my type of thing....but must say I'm 6 chapters in and hooked
Hope it's a good day for everyone
:T:T:TGet in! :j Another soon to be Twihard!
Right then, after that I lost my quotes so it's just a list from now on!
Elsie - You're welcome of course, just lovely to have you back and really hope you're feeling stronger and more positive as each new day begins. What a lovely friend you have :Aa great reflection on yourself and the friend that you must be to her :A
Snap- Sorry you're feeling so ill lovely. Sending my love and hugs and hope you're much better soon :A xx
Fourp- Lovely to have you back, you've been missed. Hope you're taking care of your wonderful wife
motherbear- I hope everything went well with your DD. I had 4 wisdom teeth out when I was 20 and I survived for a few days on soup, readybrek, porridge, yoghurts and sucking chocolateThe only thing you might need to watch is temperatures, nothing too hot as it could induce bleeding in the early stages of healing where blood clots form to seal the hole. Also just to say, if you ever want to stay with DD, you just have to make it clear that you're not leaving. I'm 24 and my Mum never leaves me or follows visiting hours when I'm in hospital
Ilovemykids- Such a shame about the hotel choc vouchers and it sounds like you've had a rough old daySending hugs you way and hope that after a good night's sleep you'll feel more positive tomorrow :Axx
Old bear, BEAR and swwifie - CONGRATULATIONS non smokers! :j:j:j:T:T:T
Mad, Tweets, sharonp, logie and rhosynbach- Some wonderful stories of loved ones that have touched your lives so dearly and left this earth far too early. Thank you for sharing, your posts brought tears to my eyes. Unfortunately grief is something we can all be united on:A And Mad please don't feel silly, you obviously loved your Dad very much and there's no shame in your tears
Leenie- :hello:Hope all's well with you and Toni (and bump) :Axx
Nanny+Nikki- So glad to hear you've had a fantastically productive day sorting! :T
Decay- Sorry your sub-shop didn't turn out like you'd hoped. Thanks goodness it's all non-perishables!
Karlie- Mmmm mmmmmm!! Your fish pie looks delish! :T
emmlouie- So glad you enjoyed Midnight Sun, it really is fantastic isn't it. I think finished, it could very well be my favourite of the bunchSuch a shame someone leaked it
celebrate- I saw emmlouie posted the link to Midnight Sun for you. Has anyone sent the pdfs? If you'd like them just PM me your email and I'll forward them
dreamerbea- Good luck with starting SW up again but please take it easy with regards to exerciseDon't want to further aggrevate your back :Axx
locarr- I wasn't mocking you at all so I hope my post didn't come across as such. I just wanted to express that while it's important to be sensible, it's also important to live and enjoy your life and not deprive yourself at every turnSometimes I think we're too strict on ourselves rather than living for the moment. Everything in moderation
SpiralingDown- A wonderful thing you're doing raising money for your school to enable equality among the children. So thoughtful and kind :A
P.S I copied and pasted this over and it's messed up my quotesAnd I can't alter them for some reason!

,The computer swallowed grandma,
yes, honestly it's true!
she presses "control" and "enter"
and disappeared from view,
it devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm,
she must have caught a virus
or been eaten by a worm,
I've searched through the recycle bin
and files of every kind
i've even used the internet,
but nothing can be found,
In desperation, I asked jeeves
my searches to refine,
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found "online",
So , if inside your "inbox"
my grandma you should see,
please "copy" and "paste" her
and send her back to me,:)Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.

Nothing new from us. Alan has been getting out for an hour or so. Mr T's yesterday, and auction and cafe today. He is still tiring very quickly but he's not in pain, so that's the main thing at the moment. I have been doing a bit more decluttering and got stuff to take to Cancer Research charity shop and tip tomorrow
I am off to bed now that Molly and Bess have stopped playing and might settleNight Night guys
