  • Today is the 4th consecutive NSD. Tomorrow, I guess I need to break this fiscal fast as I need to buy a few things. On the other hand, FLW is a godsend as I have just readied some things for selling.

I have been slow stoozing on Amazon CC for so long. The 0% on purchases ends next month. So, I have to rejig my finances and remember to put major spending on Tesco CC (15 months). Also, I'll be applying for M&S CC for my OH as that also has quite a long 0% period - good for slow stoozing.

It is so very windy and wet here in the NW. I am hoping for some respite from this weather so that I can go ahead with my planting for this summer ahead.

There are a few bids on ebay for my listings. So, hoping for some money into the OP pot.

I know some of you are Sain* Nectar points collectors. I have 2 till spits for 80 pts wys £20, 160 pts wys £40 and 50 pts wyb flour. Anybody wants them?

Morning US, I hadn't realised you had started a diary, but will be checking in regularly now.

The fiscal fast thread is someone else's philosophy not mine though, I must remember to join their thread. I found it a great way to break some habits and particularly for Mr Tilly.

You seem pretty sorted to me and your recent bargainous shopping looked fab.

Have a good week Tilly x

  • Good morning, fellow MFWs :-)

Yes, it is bright and sunny here. A natural upliftment of mood too.
If only it had been this sort of weather yesterday, I could have sown some seeds and also gone for a brisk walk in the park.

Thanks Tilly for posting about the fiscal fast. Even though I do venture occasionally to the OS thread, it didn't catch my eye until you mentioned it here.

On the MFW front, I have earmarked the money for May OP now that the pay has reached our bank a/cs. For the first time in the last few months, I have a surplus in my grocery a/c, which will go to the OP pot pronto.

    Now back to work :-)

Today being the first of May, I have started on a new spreadsheet to account all expenses, savings etc. Also, I repaid in full the current-slow-stooze Amazon CC before the deadline of 5th May.

    Things to do:
    • Ask for online access to Woolwich mortgage account so that I can track the outstanding mortgage amount
    • Explore whether switching of energy supplier and landline/broadband saves money

My to-do list keeps on lengthening.

Today I dropped into the Barclays branch to deposit a cheque and the staff member was awful - did not even know that you can check the mortgage balance through branch - kept on fobbing me off saying 'Call Woolwich'. In the end, her colleague was much more helpful guiding her through their system. As per their latest disclosure, we still owe them £135,280.

I would like someone to send me an invite for Pinecone Research, if they have any. TIA.

After much jiggery-pokery of our accounts ala Duckworth–Lewis way, I have made an OP of £2K towards the mortgages. I intend to keep at this rate at the cost of our travel/grocery/entertainment budgets. Come on summer and give us a few cheap/free days out.

I have successfully had 5 NSDs this week. I feel that is the only way of containing my otherwise-surpassed grocery budget. For the past 2 days, I was on the euphoria of having made an OP towards mortgage. Today, I have started counting the days until the next pay hits the bank account. Is it only me who thinks this way?

Another of my friends has a 25-point superpoints referral. I am posting it here on her behalf. Taken up.
She does not post here. So thanks to Lisa who signed up using that link. Happy earning quids through clicks. I have cashed in another $5 as money is better in my account rather than theirs.

I am hoping for better weather this holiday so that I can progress with my pending gardening tasks. I have to plant out the latest and last of my fruit trees.
