I understand you may not want to give away too many business details but I cannot see why you would want to store peoples' cc details yourself. It's a whole world of trouble especially since you are starting out and don't seem to know where to begin. If your system is not secure enough and somehow someone gets the credit card details and starts using the detals fraudulently well I wouldn't like to be you.

Why wouldn't you want to use a 3rd party processor like protx, secpay or even paypal etc? Is it because you want people to phone up and order? Again why would you want people to look at your website and then phone you to order? It's too much trouble for the customer. I wouldn't do it, and nor would I give cc details over the phone but again that's me.

If you want to advertise whatever it is you sell on a website why do you not just allow the person to buy online? They can select 8 or whatever amount they want of the item, it gives them a total, they go to checkout to pay and then they are sent to a secure third party that takes their details. You never see anything but the money into your account. The customer is secure, you get your money and everyone is happy.

If you are starting out I would suggest paypal as you don't have to get a merchant account and it's easy to use (I know many people have issues with paypal but it's a good start) and if you want to move onto something else I suggest protx.

Sorry to seem harsh but I think the questions about why you want peoples' cc details and why you want them to use the phone and not the website are valid. If you do have good reason fair enough then you have a different situation on your hand on how to process their orders.

If you could try and explain why it is important you have the cc details and they order over the phone (without giving your business away) it may help some of us understand and maybe provide some suggestons.

    Good luck
