Upgrading Virgin - advice needed

I currently have a 1TB Tivo box with XL TV which I pay a monthly fee of £33.50 for.
I am going to upgrade to the Premiere collection as this will save me money compared to the separate providers I currently have.
My question is do you think I should be able to get them to waive the £49.95 connection fee? If so what approach should I take? I tried suggesting I would cancel and take out a new package but that didn't work.

You could certainly ask - but the provisioning fee is rarely discounted.0

I am planning do do the opposite - cancel Virgin M+ TV (and phone if poss)and leave wireless Broadband only. Do you think that is possible? Are there any charges?
Many thanks0
