Well its all very weird but the last payment comes out of our wages tomorrow!! We do still have a few rental payments to go in and my bonus needs to go in at the end of March but essentially our money will be our own from tomorrow onwards!!
After all these years it feels like a massive relief and all that pain was most certainly worth it!

After years of being a scrimper and having never benefited from any payrises (mine has over doubled in 4 years!) We are going to be different people.

    Spending plan so far:
    • Rome for a weekend in Feb
    • Give my sister some cash each month coz she is skint!
    • Get my dad a second hand but new car
    • Book a week in the sun in March and a big hols in Sept
    • Buy a 4x4
    • Join a gym!!
    • Do some much needed work on the house!
Time to start having fun me thinks!! :D:D
    Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
    Savings: £3k

Oh how lovely, enjoy! There is a pensions board and also savings board. Not really any diaries on the pensions board, maybe it's time to infiltrate :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

    Aw thanks all!!
GG - not sure about the pension board that sounds way too grown up for me :p (I do pay a pension through work but they just take money from me each month, I don't understand it!!)

Shame I'm working tomorrow and Thurs as should be out celebrating but we are going to go out for dinner on Fri nite to celebrate (OH is paying since I had to literally drag him through this for the first few years :D)

I can't tell you how 'free' I am now feeling. All I can say is even the little Op's chip a bit off so looking after the pennies as well as the big Op's have defo helped

My commute was horrible as well this morning - usual nightmare Monday morning traffic all stuck behind a tractor doing 20 mph for 9 miles

If farmers get up as early as they always say they do - why do the move tractors on the road during communting times. I've never worked that one out:)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

THis is SO GOOD to read! :):)

    REALLY.

You have no idea how excited a complete stranger paying off their mortgage has made me! I really wonder 1. what the hell am I doing with my money? and 2. what could I do!

Thank you so much for telling your story :)
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Ha ha watty... You are soooo right about farmers! Kind you I reckon I would do it from time to time if I had a tractor just to amuse myself ;)
Thanks for following watty, it's the comments and encouragement that really help :)
