Worst rejection letters

In my opinion, any letter than says:
"With regret"
"Unfortunately"
"This in no way reflects on your excellent skills and experience"

    I have had

'As I clarified it is a very junior position!! We require a person with very little experience, as stated probably junior 2nd jobber, we do not require someone with your amount of experience. Good luck'
    OR:
'Thanks for the email. Unfortunately the role is based in Streatham so a very difficult commute from where you are based'
    OR
'This particular position involves a lot of copying, faxing and scanning'
    and finally
'Your CV is very comprehensive and I cannot see anything in it that would inhibit your applications. You were not selected for this particular role because – the position was more suitable for someone with limited experience (trainee)
The salary quoted was £13000.00 per annum '

I'd rather they have said your CV was rubbish

It was lovely to meet you the other day and we were very impressed with you during the interview, unfortunately after careful consideration you have not been successful for the position this time.

    Many Thanks,

The worst ones are the ones that they never bother to write and you simply never hear anything from them

Had email yesterday with the wording, due to the high volume of applicants we cannot further you application any further. Was shocked as it was a job i forgot i had even applied for.

That annoys me when they do that. You've taken the time & effort (if you're currently employed, taken time off etc) to come to the job interview, yet thay dont have a common decency to let you know either way. Does my head in!

I even get the '..we'll keep your CV on file for future job opportunities' (..yeah right you will!) :wall:

Read this article the other day. may help some of you for future job interviews, as I found it very helpful.

Yes I agree with you it's absolutely disgusting when that happens.
Only takes 30 seconds to type a rejection email (probably less as they would cut and paste as a standard response. Yet if it happens the other way round where a candidates fails to turn up at an interview, you get the employers coming out on this forum spitting out their dummies and saying no-one wants to work.

I always remember one rejection letter I got many years ago, went along the lines of...

Dear Mr *****, Thank you for your interest in enquiring about employment opportunites with our company but we have nothing at present.

May I suggest you look in the local newspapers, visit your local jobcentre and contact local employers to see if they have any job vacancies.

    Yours Faithfully
    ********

It was so very tempting to write back sarcasticly saying, "Thank you very much for your advice as I had not considered ever doing that"

this does happen. We had a nice chap we interviewed for one job, wasn't right, but we had another role in mind opening up in a few months, went back to him and made the offer.

We only put the 'unfortunately' and 'regretfully' stuff to sound polite as just bluntly putting 'thank you for attending the interview but you were not successful' sounds quite rude to me. But maybe not.

What do you all suggest then?

I once was offered a job about 3 weeks after getting rejected for the one I applied for - clearly rather the exception than the rule, but it does happen now and again!
