I received my 2 x £5 rewards today. I do wonder how long Halifax will continue this though... am I the the only one doing the following: -
- 2 halifax accounts earning £10 a month total rewards
- pay a few hundred quid into one and bounce back and forth between the two accounts, before withdrawing back into savings account (all on the same day)
- maintaining balance of a couple of quid in both
personally i hope this continues for a long time to come - £10 for 5 minutes work per month isn't too bad
I've got 3 accounts and move 1k from one to another sweeping my reward as i go! A very easy £15. I think some people even have extra joint accounts.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
To be honest i don't think this £5 reward is going to last very long, unless of course they change the T&Cs....But when i went into a Halifax branch a few months ago one of the staff who was dealing with me clocked on that i wanted to make a £1000 standing order out into another account. He just had a rant at me about how Halifax isn't stupid and is catching onto people who are abusing the system like that as its wasting their time and money. I didn't really say anything but later made sure to get online banking to prevent a future moment like this. I was quite tempted to complain about his rudeness to me but i chose not to for obvious reasons as a) I was abusing the system and b) I had 2 reward accounts so didn't want to draw any unneccessary attention to myself...But they are bound to have caught onto this by now, i mean i've even heard of some of their staff having multiple accounts and doing the same?0

It can only be a matter of time before they stop it.
I have been a Bank of Scotland customer for nearly 20 years but they are no longer my main bank. I got fed up with the constant sales pitches every time I had a need to use a branch.
Currently Bank of Scotland see £1,000 from me for less than 1 minute a month and pay me £10 for this. Later this week I will pay them back £4500 on their credit card that they have given me at 0% for the past 12 months.
Good bank so they are0 -
Now that you've been into a branch and they know about your additional accounts they may decided to close your extra accounts as I believe you can only have one reward account.
That's all I have with them anyway and all I do with this account is pay in £1,000 and transfer back out £1,005 each month all online and no need for anyone at halifax to get involved with that :-)0 -

At the time i had just one reward account, but was in the process of making another one. I just wanted to set up a standing order at the time of £1000 out and as soon as he saw the other standing order of £1000 coming in a few days earlier he got suspicious, started asking lots of questions and then had a go at me. But a few days later i managed to make a second reward account and i thought that i had better not risk it with complaining as when they would investigate my complaint. They would find out about my newly made second reward account and once they get details that the member of staff was ranting at me for abusing the reward system they would clearly see that i was in fact abusing the system....
This was a few months ago and luckily i've still got both my reward accounts for now0 -

I worked for HEA when this came out. We all got three, partners, parents you name it. Each branch got current account bonuses and so we were encouraged too. Plus Halifax staff don't need to credit with 1k.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Erm, are you sure? Where is the fraud??Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0
