Broadband in bad weather

Does anyone else have a problem with their adsl and maybe phone line when the weather is bad?

My problem is that my broadband loses sync and then doesn't sync when its raining outside. When i pick up the phone, I find that the line has a bit of noise on it. When the rain is light everything is ok, but when the rain gets a little heavier the problem starts occuring. Its been like this for a long time, but I just took it as being norm.

I haven't been able to connect most of today, my router has managed to connect at times but the connection fails within seconds. Its only 15 minutes ago that my router managed to get a decent connection, and I can't even say how long it will last. This problem is really frustrating, especially when there is rain day after day.

So does anyone else have the same issue? Is there anything to do or do I just live with it like I have been for 5yrs?

btw. I only have 512kb adsl.

thanks
Iceze

Could be your phone line is a bit flakey from your house to the telegraph pole. Might be worth reporting to BT or whoever your phone company is.

You could try asking your service provider (e.g. BT or Cable operator) to test the line next time this happens. It may be due to rainwater getting into their outdoor junction boxes.

We had a similar problem a year or so ago, and the line was b*ggered between the exchange and the telegraph pole. Eventually got an engineer out, and now it's all sorted (engineer said it was an 'H3 Dis' or something along those lines).

Problem is that it's always working perfectly when the engineer arrives to take a look at it!

That's the problem with intermittent faults on anything, computers, cars etc. It's supposed to be seemingly random yet it always seems to know to work perfectly whenever a professional looks at it. :D

I've had a similar problem with the phone line and broadband connection, i had a BT engineer out who pointed his box of tricks at the socket in the porch and said there was nothing wrong with the line, but it got worse and finally the line went dead, but I could still connect to broadband. Another engineer came out last Monday and replaced the main socket and everything has been fine since.
