mmm floral gums, used to get some every Sunday from my gran.

Congrats on the two stars Joek :T

Not been a good day money wise here. My two year old daughter has been wearing a pair of clarks shoes we bought about six weeks ago. They have loads of room left but yesterday I spotted a small mark on her ankle. Thought she had scratched herself but today the sides of both ankles started bleeding after she had been out in the garden for half an hour. Went back to Clarks today, apparently lengthwise the shoes still have plenty of room but her feet are so narrow and we have to tighten the buckle so far this is the problem. Clarks don't do shoes any narrower than an E fitting so off to a specialist shoeshop. They measured her at an E fitting too but when trying on shoes they were still huge on her. Tried a D fitting and hey presto that'll be £40 please. The original ones were £28 so in six weeks we have spent £68:eek: on shoes for her. She is due a growth spurt too so no doubt these won't last very long.

The beginning of the week won't be good either. We have to go north on Monday for my granda's funeral so that will be a tankfull of petrol in one go. My family would be okay if we didn't go but we didn't make grans funeral due to bad weather so I want to go to this one. Will just have to tighten the purse strings for the rest of the week.

cat - didn't clarks give you a refund as they obviously didn't fit her right for the original pair?

    Hi teecee
No they had fitted fine for the first few weeks. Just being leather they had stretched a bit with wear and this was the problem. My son is the same. When his feet get measured they are an F fitting but when he tries the shoes on they are just too big. Velcro fastening ones are the worse. They start off okay but then about a week later he has to pull the velcro so tight that the tab sticks way out past the shoe. We have given up on clarks for him as he went through so many. Cheap £10 or £12 Tesco ones now so that we can replace them more often.

    Kelly thanks for my number.

Oh that's just awful bad luck for you Scottishmummy...I do find that it's always the way though - you go through a nice little period, and something bites you on the bum!

I have a very odd belief system though - I've never ever (ever) wavered from the idea that things will eventually pan out okay. It's probably some Asian belief system going on in my head, but I have absolutely no doubt that things will work out fine in the end...and I hope you can think that too.

And when I publish my book, you'll be able to locate me on the streets of London trying to flog it to unsuspecting folk who'll look at me strangely, and mumble rude words in my direction...(you may have a signed copy though, for free).

Seriously though, ride out the tough stuff, and I'm sure things'll get better.

And hey, we're all here to listen!

I believe that too Joek. We have been very lucky with some things so we have to get our share of the bad but it won't last forever then the good will be back.

Sorry guys, I popped into another thread to check on how someone was doing and found this:

"Smilealot has got me in tears." - Oops! Hope it was good ones.

Scottishmummy, I'm sorry to hear about the bad stuff. Have you thought about trying Ebay? Sounds strange I know, but I've never been unable to find what I'm looking for on there and usually are discounted prices (new or second-hand).

I can empathise about the petrol fiasco - I'm in the same boat. Most of my friends and family are on the other side of the border so it costs me a small fortune (and it always seems easy for me to travel than them to come down). Sorry as well to hear about your granda. Big squeezy hugs for you :grouphug:
