ANY time you need reassurance or clarification with any of the silly letters or jargonistical rubbish they write quoting more legal rubbish that is not actually legal, you come back straight away for a big group hug and more reassurance.

I know a cure for gullibility. Just eat a bar of soap every morning. :)
Just a thought but did you know that "gullible" is a word that is not in the dictionary ?

If you do not comply with these requirements then we may charge you a Parking Contravention Charge. This is because we will incur a loss as your actions will prevent the efficient management of the Car Park. The amount of the Parking Contravention Charge represents a genuine pre-estimate of the additional expense incurred by us as a result of your incorrect parking.

So they reckon that if a car is parked very slightly over a bay marking it has cost them a whole £50? What planet are they on?

    Earth, unfortunately.

They do use all the right legal phrases, just in the wrong circumstances and for the wrong amounts.

Ive seen this type of thing else where, I think it was East midlands airport, where if you drop someone off on the private internal roads, then you can expect a £100 charge, which aparantly represents the true loss suffered by the airport. Ive seen it on a picture of a sign, posted on a news story - but when your driving into these places you cant stop to read some poxy detailed sign when your concentrating on the road with other drivers and pedestrians ahead of you. http://www.eastmidlandsairport.com/emaweb.nsf/Content/ShortStayParking
A £100 enforcement charge is payable by drivers who stop their vehicles to drop off or pick up passengers in unauthorised parking areas or stopping on the internal roads. This charge is reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days.
is this goign to crop up more and more as a result of the BBCs Watchdog programme, and sites such as this?
is it, and are such clauses defeatable?

Of course it's defeatable as the sum demanded does not represent the loss suffered by the landowner/ PPC. That's all they can legally claim for.
