Anyone know how to check air fares flying from Europe and if it is possible to book long haul with the return to UK? Would this work out more expensive than a standard return from Paris?:question:0

It is the multi-stop bit on a website
so for the out bound would be PAR-NYC and the in-bound NYC-LONPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I remember back in 2005 or whatever when the government backed by much of the population in the pursuit of being 'green' sanctioned a fiver or something similar on flights. This supposedly helped the environment and all the tree huggers got a clear conscience.
The rest of us saw this for what it really was - A stealth tax. Since 2007 it has increased 140% and every single airline leaving British shores disagrees with it. I don't know a single broadsheet that supports it or anyone in the travel industry that sees any benefit from it...
As UK citizens we have no choice to pay it if we fly from the UK. The funny thing is the UK also levied an emissions tax on global airlines heading to an from these shores - China, India, USA, Canada and a few others have all flat refused to pay it.
The EU has now threatened these countries with banning them from flying here, the response from 3 of the biggest economies on earth (including the top 2) We will impose trade sanctions on the EU...
What I am trying to get across is that whilst at citizens we get bullied and thus forced into APD, there is a much larger battle going on, between some of the heavy weights of the global economies - These countries refuse to sit back and let the UK or indeed EU dictate how much they should pay to 'offset climate change'
Welcome to the UK where we pay some of the highest tax on petrol on earth and now the highest tax on flights on the planet.
But hey - At least were helping global warming.0 -
I don't know where to book flights from Paris or Schiphol to Dubai from London in order to avoid the Air Passenger Duty.
could someone explain how, please
Travel Editor for the Independent, Simon Calder, said other Europeans pay far more than us, even tax taken into account, because of less flight competion and I'm wondering what's the point going there

Not sure what you mean exactly. If you book a ticket that originates outside the UK you avoid the UK APD. Of course, if you're in the UK, you'd then have to make your way to whatever airport your ticket is from but since that will be a short-haul trip, the APD will be lower. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered myself and wonder how much the average traveler would really save when you take in to account the added expenses of an extra ticket and time needed, plus the risk of missing your connection.0
