Switching bank accounts and O/D limits

I have a current a/c which tends to vary between in credit and O/D (up to 5k) at various times of year, and usually for up to week at the end of the month. I also have a 15k limit which is handy for odd occasions usually if money needs to be swapped around
I'm with RBS and have never really had ANY issues with the bank. However they've been changing their packaged accounts in the last few months and my package which started at £15 has gone to £18 and then £24.
The main benefits I use are mobile phone insurance (4 smartphones) and annual worldwide travel cover (family, usefully kids can travel independently currently)
The monthly premium is high, and I don't get a lot of value from the other services, especially as they recently dropped "gadget" cover (ipad/ipod/laptop)
So this begs some questions which leaves me with 4 options
a) Carry on as now !
- If I do this I continue paying the high fee AND have the uncertainty of the sandander takover imminently
- no idea if they'll honour the O/D limits
- doesn't stop me doing one of the below at a later date - so options open?
b) Transfer to another rbs/natwest branch
- keep the high fees
- assuming they can easily match T&Cs
c) Keep my bank account but switch to a no-fee basic account which means standalone insurance products.
- O/D limit intact for now
but
* Are there any decent mobile phone insurance bundles around? Protectmybubble worked out at £18/month for these phones - high side
* Annual travel insurance is easier
d) Switch to another packaged account such as the Co-op which has a decent travel+phone package for < £10 pcm
- What's the chance of getting o/d terms agreed at account opening?
I guess there may be other options like trying to manually switch accounts without closing the old one -- and perhaps the old a/c T&Cs will remain intact, though with no income flow I'm sure they'll cancel the OD.
I've *never* transferred my bank account
