Washing Powder Any Offers?

  • I use this seller on eBay. I find that one bag lasts us around 90 days and we do a minimum of 2 washes each day, sometimes 3 or 4. It's excellent powder and we use about 1/2 an egg cup full per wash. At the current price, it works out at just over 9p per day, not per wash - I've never counted the number of washes I've done over the 90 days, but it would be at least 180, probably more like 250.

I've just come on the internet to do a comparison as to where washing powder is the cheapest before I go walkabout (don't have a car) to buy it but I've ordered some from this seller - looks like a real bargain. Do you use this powder for coloured items as well?

Also I read some time ago that detergent manufacturers always tell you to use too much detergent. Up until now I've used tablets which always says to use two and sometimes three but I've started using just one and unless the clothes are absolutely filthy (football kit!) one does the washing fine.

just for info and in case it helps anyone

I have been buying morrisons own brand washing powder for years it £1.69 for a 2 kilo box and says 30 washes on it but I never put as much in as is recommended. even if you did it works out at 5p a wash, so if you used much less than recommended then it would work out even cheaper.
I have eczema and it has not affected it at all.

I got loads of persil non bio when I had the coupon (now expired) and also they were changing over packaging (amount of washes per pack etc) so both the powders and liquids were on some ridiculously cheap offers, and worked out at anything from 4p-7p a wash if you use the dose they recommend which you don't often need to. At the moment Bold is on offer in Sainsburys; different sizes are on offer at different prices but they are straight reductions and not 'buy x for y amount', consequently if you get two SSM coupons (as you will be able to print as that is the print limit) you can use one on each product purchased, although in some Sainsburys you will need to do it in two seperate transactions. xx

Aldi's Almat Bioglogical soap powder for £3.29 is a good bet for your whites, and use either the colour powder or liquid detergents (whichever works out cheapest per wash) for your colours.

I find you can get away with under dosing Aldi's soap powders, and get results equally as good as using the recommended dose!
  • I am a total convert to Lidl's formil powder. I buy the big box and get at least twice the amount of washes it states. I use one big tablespoon per load and everything comes out great even the sweaty karate gi is lovely and white and fresh.

I wash mostly at 40C and do bedding and towels at 60C to kill any bacteria.

  • anyone know of any good offers for DAZ? I saw in home bargains they had a box for £12or£13 think it was an 80 wash box. I tend to stick to the smaller boxes tho (either 50 or 25 wash) as they're easier to store.

Any posts of offers/vouchers would be appreciated.
