thanks for the link - interesting... I still can't help but feel using 9p of oil etc to create stylish cookery-book-style dining defeats the purpose... hmm...Love and compassion to all x0 -

I know what you mean, Tumpty. I was very tempted to have a go, but I felt like I would have just been saying "Look at me! I can eat pretty well for £5 a week!" And I'm sure I could, but then I'm massively privileged in that I have access to clean drinking water, a really good range of cheap healthy food within walking distance, a proper kitchen, a cupboard full of spices and enough money for all the gas and electricity I need to cook with, not to mention the confidence to actually cook. I haven't forgotten how badly I ate when the only shop for miles was the one at the petrol station, or when I had no cooking facilities at all briefly, as a student. That was an entirely different ballgame and I couldn't have done it in those circumstances, so I wouldn'y want to send out the message that because I could do it, everyone else should be able to too.
I am torn though. I think I could raise a reasonable amount for the new foodbank opening up locally if I did it anyway.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0
