Orange - Any Good??

Thinking of moving from tiscali to Orange, as they offer free broadband to customers who have a £35 quid monthly mobile contract with them. (For £5 a month can have unlimited downloads and a wireless router)
From a money saving point of view (currently pay tiscali £17 a month) it seems to make sense, but is there anything else that should be aware of. I've heard rumours of poor customer service from Orange (though was never the best from tiscali)
Cheers

I,m with Orange on the free broadband offer that you are quoting.
I,ve not had any problems with them at all.My migration went smoothly and as for the rumours about their customer services then i can only comment on my experience with them and i can truthfully say that they were really helpful to me so i can,t speak for anyone else.

Like you_llneverwalkalone I have not used Orange's customer service but I have been with them for 3 months and not had any problems. I know 3 months is not a long time so who knows what will happen in the future.
I'm sure there will be people who will reply saying that Orange are awful but unfortunately every company will have some problems and people's perceptions are based on how they are treated. I know that if I had a problem and the customer services were awful I would look to move.
I would recommend Orange (at the moment) but I am sure others won't. It is ultimately upto you if you want to migrate to Orange.0 -
I would not recommend Orange to anyone. In my experience, the service was shocking, I had hardly any service from Sept last yeat and have spent a fortune on phone calls trying to get them to sort the connection problems out. In the end I was told to submit my phone bills to them and they would recompense me with the charges, this is all well and good but I have now changed my supplier to BT Broadband and have had no problems at all, so it certainly couldn't have been a line problem as I was told on numerous calls. I have since had an £85 credit from Orange.0

I was with wanadoo so am now with orange. And leaving.
Customer services dont think they have heard it.....problems? call centre in india, who told me that as I had a wanadoo router, they couldn't help, and now I get disconected every 2 hours and I have been told they cant help with that either.
Look elsewhere.0 -
I've been on orange free broadband (and only 12 month mobile contract with cashback), signup was smooth and quick and had absolutely no problems at all.0

I was with Wanadoo to start with and they were excellent. The customer service was brill....Then Orange took over.
Since then we have had slow connection speed or no connection at all in the evening time. Calls to the technical support would either be cut short with a message saying they are busy please hang up and call later, or I would be answered by a call centre in India where after 40 mins hold I would get no solution from the operative and the line would be cut short by them. I am currently waiting for my mac code to move to another provider. Lucky for me I will be moving soon so I will take great delight in telling them were to stick it when I do.
In short - the future is not Orange!
Watch dog have commissioned a survey about broad band. go to the website to take part. The results will be released next month. This should give some idea on who the better players are in the market.0 -
I've had exactly the same problems as marbella, annie and chorlton. Wanadoo were fanastic but as soon as orange took over my broadband access was ridiculous. No apologies, no help; nothing is their fault apparently.
We're moving to Virgin and last night I had no internet access for 4 hours and after 45 mins on phone they told me it was Virgins fault!!!!!!!!! How? I asked when Virgin only just wrote to me telling me they will be round to sort out cable etc on the 20th March. Guess what? He changed his tune and said it will be fixed in 2 hours- and it was!0 -
We were on Telewest for ages and then moved to Orange because of the 'free' thihng.
TBH, service hasn't been too bad, but I regret not going for the Virgin offer at the time of 10 for 2MB. telewest was much faster for the same speed. Orange seems to vary alot. It's much slower now than when i was with Telewest.
i'd rather pay alittle and go with VirginGod made man, man made money, money made man mad0
