Farnborough Air Show thrives on it's nostalgia of days gone by. The reality of today is that it is a VERY poor show by modern standards.

This is a trade event for the aviation industry which is turned into a dismal public show. Many of the advertised aircraft (the more interesting ones) which would have participated during the trade days will have left and will be back in their hangars come the public days and will not be seen. The many exhibition halls open on trade days will be closed on the public days. There are far better shows !

We have been many times in the past, too expensive now for us, used to be £7.50 for adults and free kids, we now watch it from our friends back garden, excellent view. Do not buy the over-priced food on site and take a packed lunch. Its a good day out all in all and the kids end up with loads of free stickers and bugs and posters....

    Went today with work.

Food prices were £6 for a very generous portion of sausage and chips, £7 for fish and chips from one of the vans by the A400M, and a beer was £4. Whether this goes up on public days I don't know. Sandwiches were £4.50 for 2 in the exhibition halls, and meals started at £12.

Flying was a bit rubbish (less than 3 hours) but should be double that at the weekend. However most of the exhibition halls will be shut on the public days so anyone who enjoys seeing the real technology close up will be disappointed.

Not any more they won't. That's all stopped. It's too costly for the companies to keep the exhibition halls open on the public days so they won't be doing it in future. Shame !
