Years ago a friend was invited to dinner by a new boyfriend. He said he'd cook pasta. And so he did. Just a plate of boiled pasta.

    She ditched him pretty quickly

i used to dread Tuesdays as a kid, we always had, without fail, boiled potatoes, tough gammon and brussel spouts, boring, boring, boring.
no sauces or condiments in the house, double boring and tasteless too.

Reminds me of something my partner did to my cooking 8 years ago. I was making a vegetable pie and he got it out to check if it was cooked or not, he discovered that it wasn't cooked yet, so rather than putting it back in the oven to cook, he chucked it in the bin. Well I was furious and said that I wouldn't cook him a meal ever again.
I never took it that far, but sure enough I didn't cook a single meal for the next 5 years (only relented as we moved houses and it had a wonderful big kitchen). He cooked everymeal.
Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.

OP, you say your husband SHOUTED at you for providing a meal that was not to his taste?

He sounds like a bit of a t1t to be honest, and you a doormat, thinking you are punishing him, by making him another meal he will hate?

    Oh dear
The opposite of what you know...is also true

I'm afraid if a man or anyone shouted at me over food I had cooked for him he would have had it poured over his head lol.

    Ali x

My mother did that to my father once, in the early days of their marriage. His family were over for dinner and he was being a bit of a tool. My mother is a good cook but still my father complained about the salad so she dumped it on his head.

Later on MIL took my mother aside and said how wonderful it was that her son married a strong and independent woman :rotfl:

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

He shouted at you for making soup? Why should you have known not to?

I would be refusing to cook for him at all, personally.
