Why's it cheaper to insure a 5 dr Ford Mondeo to a 5dr Peugeot 307
Options
Both LX models, same year of manufacture, similar mileague, similar value. The Peugeot is a 1.6l whereas the Mondeo is a 1.8l.
Surely the smaller vehicle would be cheaper? Yet quotes i've been getting are showing the Mondeo to be the cheaper policy, albeit only by about £30/yr

The insurers know how much it costs to repair each car and where in a scale of prices, what parts cost - that is the Peugeot may cost more to fix after an accident because of the cost of parts.
The Ford may have better safety equipment such as ABS brakes or have a better NCAP rating?0 -
Mondeos are probably more common in the UK so the parts prices are cheaper. The man without a signature.0

Its the cost of the panels and plastics .
You could fix half a dozen mondeos for the cost of one Peugeot.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Parts prices
Average driver demographic
Accidents per year in each vehicle
Safety features
NCAP ratings
The list goes on and on, it's not worth worrying over.
Why is this in Consumer Rights?0 -
Ah, didn't think of cost of parts - which does seem logical having said that.
It's meant to be in motoring board, I spent ages wondering what happened to my thread until realising I've posted it in consumer rights by accident0 -
That's OK, I'll move it acrossForum_Team wrote:

I've just had a similar supprise, I recently bought an 08 reg Vectra 1.9CDTi which although higher value and larger car, actually came out cheaper to insure than the car it replaced which was an Astra 1.3 CDTi Life (base model) Estate on an 06 plate.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

its simple really pewgots 307's are always breaking down causing accidents and neck claims
mondeos just go on and on
unless its been misfuelled or run on illegal fuel0 -
