paypal - bank reversal - help please for new seller

Hello all,
I thought I would dip my toe in the water of ebay selling. Sold my first item last Sunday, got paid straight away via paypal, posted it on Monday, got positive feedback on Tuesday, item received and buyer seemed happy with it. Hurrah! I thought, this is not as scary as I thought it might be.
Today, I got an email from paypal
"We were recently notified that a payment you received was reversed by the buyer’s bank. ...
We are reviewing the bank reversal and will contact you again via email with information on what to do next. "
What is going on?
I've not had any communication from the buyer to indicate there is a problem with the transaction. Should I contact her? Should I wait for paypal to contact me? What sort of information might they want?
It is only a low value item, less than a fiver, but I am getting worried about what I might have done wrong. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hi
When this happened to me I had to send proof of postage to paypal and they returned the funds to my account. took about a week to complete theri investigation. Did you get proof of postage?0 -
Thanks Teeni, yes I have proof of postage. I also have the feedback confirming it was received not just sent (though i don't know if paypal look at this).
Can't believe this is happening with the first thing I've ever sold, maybe it is not as straighforward as it is purported to be.0 -
Paypal are pretty awful and customer services are rubbish. All the best in getting this sorted0

You need to scan and upload or fax your proof of postage. Do it now or the case will close and your money will go.0

I've got one at the moment and I warn you it can take 30 days for the money to be released to you. Upload the POP via the dispute console but watch the final screen. Make sure it uploads properly, the first time i tried it it didn't upload.
I also sent a message via the console saying buyer has left glowing positive feedback.
I also emailed buyer to say that his payment appears to have been recalled by his bank and whilst I am sure it is an error he might like to contact his bank and find out what has happened.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Once they had the proof i had posted it they released the funds, just looked and it did take 17 days from start to finish didnt realise it was so long. They werent interested in whether it had been received only whether it had been posted because it was a bank recall. it is bad luck ot happen on your first sale.
My purchaser had been in hospital and left hubby in charge of accounts, she said never again would he be let near them after the problems she had to sort out when she was discharged. She was mortified and very appologetic but these things happen .
Hope it is sorted soon for you and hasnt put you off.0 -
Thank you everyone, I shall follow your advice re uploading the proof of postage, and will also email the buyer (nicely!). Not too worried if it takes a while for money to come through (as I said it is a small amount), it is more the hassle of dealing with this sort of thing.
So far I've sold three items, this one with the reversal, one where the buyer wanted the item posting to a different address leading to a lengthy email correspondence, and one that so far seems straighforward.
I am wondering if the time involved is going to be worth it for the low value of the bits I'm wanting to get rid of. What percentage of transactions do people find are truly straighforward? Or is it just because I am a new seller that I'm having issues?0 -
I am a business seller and would say that 99.9% of my sales are perfectly straightforward.
Ebay does take time but can be rewarding.0 -

Hmm, my luck is going to have to change drastically!0 -

My previous experience is that PayPal don't take feedback left as any kind of evidence against a chargeback. Much to my annoyance twice last year. After speaking with Joe Unhelpful at PayPal I was told that feedback left had no baring on their decision.
I was on a good run of no chargebacks this year, that ended today when a whole £2.25 was recalled by the bank. Contacted the buyer and they had no idea this had been done.0
