We are looking at buying a property advertised as a building plot which has a bungalow on it which has to be demolished by the buyer and there is planning permission for a new dwelling.
Would we have to pay any council tax on this property,we are planning to do most of the work ourselves as and when we can afford it which will take a few years.

Council Tax on a new dwelling usually becomes payable after the council has issued what is known as a "Completion Notice". However a CN can be issued well before a dwelling is complete in the eyes of the builder/owner, but they can be appealed.
CT obligation in respect of the existing bungalow will cease with its demolition. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
