Let's just say you go up their ladder and fall off or fall through the top rung and break your neck - you can sue them.....
so take your own ladder, but I think it's a perfectly reasonable request0 -
I always do a head and shoulders with torch if necessary but have never been asked by a buyer to look in my loft. Surveyor should have a good look at the timbers and get up there if possible.0

I'm glad our buyers didn't see up in the loft before they moved in otherwise they would have seen that I had de-boarded every inch of flooring before moving out!Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!

I have never asked to view the attic however the first house I bought( built in 1931 ) had no felt under the slates . had I known it might have put me off . I moved 15 years ago but the house has the same roof"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

You've obviously looked in mine:rotfl:0 -
You might even see something else highly relevant, like the bats and their prodigious poo piles that I spied in one old place. "They're protected, you know," said their proud custodian. I won't say what I thought about the prospect of shovelling up bat faeces every 6 months or so!
He/she must have been batsh*t crazy, I guess...:rotfl:You wanna hear about my new obsession?
I'm riding high upon a deep recession...0 -

For a house of that generation, it is standard (or at least pretty usual) to have no felt underneath the roof tiles.0 -
Some vendors have insisted I look in the loft as if it's going to be a major selling point. If I was seriously thinking about making an offer I would have a look just to make sure there are no nasty surprises, you'd assume a loft is just a loft and for me that's always been the case but there's always an exception to the rule.0

We viewed our house but did not get into the attic. Got a surveyors report on the house and on it they said they did not inspect the attic. ( do they not carry steps these days?) So i got in again and brought a ladder. House had been rented for number of years and it looked as if every tenant had left their rubbish behind. Got the seller to empty it, more than a skip full i would think. So worth a look.0
