Friday 30th March - What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today??!!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning  was surprised that we weren't started this morning as we've been up and running early all week - kjp not at work early this morning? :rotfl:

Guys we've made it! Friday is here :j Just one more working day and our time is our own :T

Things for today:
  • checked banking
  • did vsp & update sig
  • all meals from stores
  • make potato & leek soup when I get in for dinner with my friend
  • going out for a walk with my friend & her dogs
  • check onepoll
  • veg box arrives today
  • walk to work
  • NSD (4)
  • need to think of some free entertainment for the weekend/next week

Think that's my lot. Bank balance is looking better after a week of NSDs :T starting to make up for my blip last month :T

Hope u all have a lovely day and the sun is shining wherever you are x

    Morning DNMS,
I haven't posted on here for ages :o

I hope everyone is ok :)

I confess to having lurked on your diary now and then though :D

    Today:

    It is Friday :j:j:j

Off to London again, but last time before Easter, and an afternoon meeting so not a silly o'clock start :T
    I will -
Take lunch with me - a nice roll from the freezer filled with cheese and tomato and some fruit, to eat on the train. I can in theory claim lunch costs back, but it is such a palaver that I rarely bother! Easier just to take my own :)

Prawn wraps for supper using food I already have

Take a magazine with me to read on the train - I must confess to a recent weakness for nice home magazines - the ones with vintage and antique furnishings and expensive shabby chic decor :o I have got lots of ideas from them for my own house though, which we have recently done up. Cheap adaptations on the theme I hasten to add though :D No £1000 light fittings or £135 cushions here

Luckily my DD and her friends share this odd obsession, so we swap, as they are not cheap  The one I will take with me today is a swapped one :A

Right, better get on and make lunch! Although my meeting isn't till this afternoon, I still have to go in to work first

Have a good day everyone

    Morning All!

Thanks determined new ms for starting the thread! :D

It's Friday!! At last! It could not come soon enough! I need to catch up on sleep!

Unfortunately, the sun has stopped shining here :( booooooo! It's a little drizzly too. Oh well.

Here is my list for today:

    - Bring in own lunch (have it with me! Veggie soup again. Will prob have it over the weekend too)
    - Call docs for Hayfever tablet prescription
    - Have a nice home made meal for dinner (from stores) - Something with chicken and corn on the cob. Any ideas?
    - Do some dish washing (why does this never seem to be completely done?? lol
    - Put clean clothes away (it's more likely I'll do this tomorrow)
    - Hoover the rugs in living room and in kitchen (as above)
    - Sweep floors (as above)
    - NSD! (I only need to get some bread and milk, and OH gave me €20 and just said 'spend it on food' :D - might get a treat for us in that case)
    - Drink lots of water again (instead of nasty, evil diet coke)
    - Tidy the coins around the apt into the change jar
    - Email the girlfriends and see how they're doing/catch up
    - Check cost of hotel that is booked for May trip, for my Supernatural convention (yes, I am that much of a geek!)
    - Rearrange medical appt that is booked for next week
    - Chase work for feedback/approval of goals set and new date for mid-year review

OK, I think that is it for today. It's all I can remember anyway! :rotfl:

    Goooooooooooood morning! Friday, hooray! :j

    + Check banking
+ Angst over mysterious 'pending' transaction on the cc that neither of us can place.
+ Replacement from the insurance should arrive today :T
    + All food from stores
+ Look up when I was supposed to recieve a refund which has still not come in.
+ Keep trying to win a stick blender on eBay.
+ Treat myself to some blooms to go in a vase I got as a present. They'll come from my spending money budget - remember to update the app afterwards.

Have a lovely day everyone!

What's a stick blender? Nevermind! Aren't there any places in the UK that do a cheap one? Like Wilkinsons maybe? Or are you looking for a specific type?

I got a cheap blending kit/set/thingy over here for €15. Here it is: http://www.hema.nl/winkel/electronica/huishoudelijk/staafmixer-(80007013) Admittedly, it is super loud! But it works perfectly well, does what I need and is versatile. And there's no speed control, it's either on or off! lol Alright, nevermind. You're probably better off with Ebay (though if you're interested, I checked and Wilkinson's do cheap ones).

Good luck! And I hope you find out where the mystery CC transaction has come from. And, even better, I hope it's a mistake!!

:rotfl:It's a thing you hold in a pot of soup etc and it blends it all up. Saves having to ladle it into a processor.

Alas, there's no Wilko's or similar near me and I don't have a car. Fingers crossed for eBay though :)

Happy Friday everyone! :D Today I am:

    - repeating the success of my tasty 98p apple and cheese lunch yesterday, mm
    - going out for work drinks (a long-time colleague's leaving do, wouldn't do to not go!) but sticking to one pint (ONE PINT!) and then heading home to...
    - have a nice night in with husband :) (this is also a health thing as I am still really tired after being sick this week)

But the most important DFW thing I did today was make a $690.09 payment - my first big one! :D:D:D
    Since March 2012:
    Paid off: $3,985.80
    Owe: $16,230.44

I attempt to clear all my debts by my 30th birthday at frugalcitygirl.com!
