This site is great for finding where budget airlines operate to and from.

Singapore has lost most of its history due to redevelopment since the 80s. Hong Kong is a much better bet...you can easily spend 2 weeks there and not scratch the surface. Remember that HK is mostly country park and rural. Only the harbour area and Kowloon are usually seen by most tourists, and what a lot they miss.0

We are stopping off in Singapore for a few days in July on the way to Oz.
We e-mailed the tourist information office and received a bundle of little books and leaflets this morning which are pretty good for info, maps, where to eat, shop, trips and tours etc

Shopping is nothing like florida but then nothing is eh !
There are loads of malls but you get fed up of all the same things after a while.I like a good look in china town you get different things there.
There are all sorts of restaurants and food courts but in the food courts I would say it is all chinese sort of food or seafood but they are so cheap.
For flights from singapore have a look at https://www.zuji.com.hk
The far east is my very favourite area in all the world. I just love it out in asia.travelover0 -
The cheap clothes and shoes are all in smaller sizes for the local market (if you have teenagers it will be great). If you have size feet below 37 you will find heaps of cheap shoes (maybe not all the best quality but fun shoes for nights out that you won't wear often). Clothes from international brands I find the same price the world over. People say it is expensive compared to its neighbour countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc), but it is cheap compared to Britain. If you like the local food it is dirt cheap, but as already said if you are a big drinker it will be very expensive. From Singapore you can do a day trip to Malacca in Malaysia (about 1 hour on bus) which is great. The Singapore zoo is fantastic. It is very humid. Singapore is great for a efw days. I have been there a number of times. It depends on whether you like the culture, food etc. and can handle the climate.0

I got absurdly cheap flights to Bali from Singapore with Valuair, a subsiduary of Qantas. It's a great two centre with Singapore!

Lots of skyscrapers. Touts trying to get you to the jewellery shops.
Much of the character gone.
You can take a cable car ride over to Sentosa island. That's a sandy sunny place ideal for a couple of day trips.
Raffles Hotel for a Singapore sling!
Singapore is okay for 3/4 days.0 -
2 weeks is much too long. Nice city though. Take 5 days - 1 week, and spend the other week elsewhere. You could fly Singapore - Bangkok on Air Asia (https://www.airasia.com)
Or on Jet Star Asia (http://www.jetstar.com/sg/index.html) to any of the following nice destinations:
Siem Reap
Bali
Hong Kong
Phuket
Yangon
If you buy your flight from Singapore Airlines (world's best airline) you get a free local connection with unlimited stays in either Singapore or the other destination
Check out https://www.silkair.com for destinations from Singapore (these connections are otherwise very expensive).
Possible free connections that would be nice:
Medan
Lombok
Phuket
Langkawi
Siem Reap
Yangon
Chiang Mai
Cebu
Davao
Kuching
Kuta KinabaluMy policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.0 -
Hello
If you're in Singapore for two weeks I'd definitely recommend taking a short trip out - Singapore is very nice but kinda boring - Asia Lite really!
A low cost carrier out of Singapore which I've used a few times is Tiger Airways - they don't go to many destinations but are quite low cost and when I've travelled the planes seem very new and shiny.
Alternatively there are very nice air conditioned coaches to Malaysia - Malacca is a couple of hours away.
