Hi All
i need some advice if poss.
i bought a car from a garage in rotherham a couple of weeks ago and i have a problem with the car in that my car turns over when i try to start it but it doesnt fire. I called the garage today and they said bring the car back tomorrow and we will have a look as i have a one month standard warranty. i explained we live over 2.5 hours away and it wouldnt be possible until a weekend as i work full time and i am unable to get time off work. They confirmed they dont do weekends for this type of matter.
Are they completley in their rights? i dont want to have to travel 2.5 hours away on a week-day.
thanks all :j

They've offered to do something about it but you can't force them to work weekends. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

no, i realise that but i have explained my position that i am unable to take time off work.
does anyone know the rights ,can i take it to another garage, the garage i purchased the car from said this wasnt possible but not sure if they are trying to fob me off.
thanks0 -
Are they put of a group (e.g. main dealer network)? If so, you could try asking if you can take it to another garage in the same group.
If they're just an independent, I doubt they'll let you take it elsewhere. They'd have to pay retail price to the other garage to have it repaired.0 -
Possible option: Take it there at the weekend, put the keys through the letterbox, come back next weekend.
Only works if you have alternative transport for the week and to get home, however.0 -
they are a group but all based up north. have just gone on to CAB website and they are to repair it will without significant inconvenience to myself so might use this if they are still not prepared to come to an arrangement0

i should also note they do work weekends just wont look at my car as it has a fault on a weekend.
thanking you0 -
A lot of garages work weekends but that'll be the sales people not the mechanics. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0

Good idea by Lum - I've dropped my car off when garages have been closed (and picked it up too though that means them hiding the keys on the forecourt which is a bit iffy).0

Must be something unique and rare to warrant a 2.5hr journey to buy it.......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If it is indeed a large chain, ask if you can drop it off one week, take a courtesy car and collect the weekend after.
They should have access to that and they are responsible for fixing it anyway.
Not sure how you are going to get it to them if it won't start though!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
