Are you intending to stay or do it up and move on? If the latter there will be a second lot of moving costs.
It is going to be my home and yes, the location is one of the main draws. We shall be leaving the outskirts of London for this move and I want as much rural aspects as I can get for my buck. I definitely wanting to put a lot of love into doing it up and I do hope, should I love it as much as I hope to, that there is no nasty surprises structurally to contend with.
Is it disturbing that I am already thinking of it as ours :eek:DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
Don't make an offer before researching and quoting any work that might be needed, or you will end up with a lot of probems.
Think with your head not your heart in this situation! Good luck.0 -
Bathroom does not have to cost 3/5k nor does the Kitchen need to cost 5 to 10k, easily done as good for a lot less if you shop around. Central Heating cost me £2500 for a 2 bed house all in but was a couple of years ago so you may be able to get for about 3k now. Really difficult to know without seeing first hand but always over estimate then anything you save is a bonus. Looks like a project I'd like to get my teeth into !!good luck0

Depends on your DIY skills really. How much you are willing to complete yourself or whether you want to pay to have it completed by professionals.
I had a full rewire on the house I purchased 6 months ago (3 bed semi) and it cost £1850 so a lot less than £5k if you shop around.
Me and my father installed an entire new kitchen from scratch to a good level for less than £2k.
Just finished installing a new bathroom suite, including new flooring, tiling, etc for less than £500.
So it really depends on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to do yourself. Now a proud home owner after saving a deposit for 2 years :j0 -
Open house was this morning and sadly there was no tugging at the heartstring
It wasn't the state of the house but I was prematurely in falling in love with what I imagined would be the rural aspect of the locaion but the house itself does not have a nice view either side of the house. Though it is near lovely fields. And the noise from Brands Hatch was very BAD. I would feel like an idiot to pay to live with that by choice.
The house itself would need total gutting out and the floor upstairs is dodgy. If the location had been amazing, I would still be considering it but back to the drawing board on this I am afraid.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0
