Another vote for local companies here. My blinds came from a small independent business and the entire experience was top notch: I'll definitely use them again in the next house. It's worth asking friends, family and neighbours for recommendations as they may be able to suggest a decent local company.
  • We used a local tradesman who used to work for Hilarys and buys his stock from the same factory. We did the whole house in vertical blinds for £325, a 3-bed semi including 2 bay windows. Apparantly Hilarys would have been approx £800.

My Oh used to run his own window blinds business, hilarys blinds are very very expensive, theres nothing super special about there fabrics despite what they may tell you. Imo go and look in your local paper and get some local business numbers and give them a ring, always get about 3 quotes.

For eg: 3 windows for verticals Large company quoted £180.00 Local business £100

Ive seen so many ppl ripped of by "larger" companies

I bought wooden blinds from www.blinds2go.co.uk. They're really well made (yet to be fitted) & you measure yourself & they take off a cm each side of the recess for you to ensure a good fit. I paid less than £500 for 13 blinds.

I wanted to get vertical blinds for two rooms one room has a massive window and in total Hillarys wanted nearly 600 to make me one blind instead of two smaller ones :rotfl:

I got exactly what I wanted from http://www.blindsuk.net/ for about £190 for ALL of the rooms :j all made to measure and so easy to fit screw in 3 small brackets then click on the blind all done. xx

Hi all, thanks a lot for your contributions. We intended to get 3 quotes, starting with Hilary's. When he came, the quote was much much lower than we had thought £157 for 3 large windows! Works out even about the same as ordering online! He just fitted them this weekend and we are extremely pleased! Glad we gave them a go. The consultant was also very pleasant and nice to deal with, not pushy at all.

I have had Hillarys blinds on most of my windows and was pleased with the results. however one of them has fallen off the wall and i rang customer services who told me that they would send an advisor on Saturday between 9 and 12. They didn't arrive and when i rang customer services surprise surprise they were closed. The after care service stinks i won't be using them again
