Ask him to pay using a Paypals e-check.
It really isn't so risky.
What have people got against it, plus it's fee free?
It's not as if it's for hundreds of pounds.
Paypal is far riskier in my opinion as it's a piece of P to do a chargeback for spurious reasons. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -

It isn't too difficult to find out mother's maiden names, schools etc these days so by accepting a cheque you are compromising your privacy slightly in terms of identity fraud. Having said all that I would probably accept. Maybe get it made out to your partner or sent to your parents address?
Has the world truly become so paranoid that the simple acceptance of a cheque is now seen to be akin to handing your wallet to a passing stranger? What goes around - comes around0 -
