Credit check to decrease limit?

Apologies,bit of a novice type CC question really but is it standard procedure be credit checked again if I have requested a credit limit decrease through my current provider (Barclaycard Platinum)

I put he request through online and it asked me for employment status and salary details before I could submit my request

What was the option you clicked on? If it was something along the lines of "change credit limit" it may just be a standard form.

Yes I beleive it was so hoping thats the case.

Some banks do now do a credit search if you ask to reduce the limit on your overdraft or credit card.
I don't know if bc are one that does, but I know that more people seem to be posting about it particularly with regards to overdrafts.
