Frankly I don't believe your post as it is just not how it works in the real world. If your statement had stated that £x would be taken by dd on your due date then regardless of any subsequent payments you made the dd would have been taken.

I suspect you and Auto-man are one and the same just trying to build some credibility for your facile arguments.

Lol I have no reason to lie, what would be the point? all i can say are what my personal experiences have been when i pay Virgin or one of my other cards (same rule applies with by barclaycard btw, pay them they dont take the DD)

Anyway Hanky Panky crack on and think that the whole world is lying to you if you so wish but again i have no reason to and well couldnt really care less if you think i am haha.

Bonkers people on these forums :money:

I have to Agree with auto-man - Just last month i paid 200 quid towards my Virgin CC Account before the DD was due to come out. The DD was not taken as i made the payment. The fact that the OP paid more than the minimum before the due date covers that month's payment. The DD had it not been canceled would not have been taken (or shouldnt have anyway) i think the fact it was cancelled has confused their systems.

Give them a call, speak to a manager and get your 12 quid back and also make sure they have not reported a late payment on your credit file.

Oh and Ben8282 - leave your attitude outside on your next post aye... Especially when your completely wrong lol

Sorry but I think you are the one who is so completely wrong lol ...

As other posters have confirmed, this credit card company is one of those who take the direct debit irrespective of whether an additional payment has been made or not.

    Which part of the sentence:

Did you have difficulty in understanding?

None. What part of "I paid the whole balance off" did you have difficulty with! You can't be in credit; if you've settled the account you can cancel the DD. I'm telling you the rules. Not asking!

Oh let's not forget "other posters" who disagree with your claim?

Point is it doesn't matter that that's what they do - the fact of the matter is they CANNOT do it. The FOS will back this.

I can make my own rules; doesn't mean people will listen nor does it mean they are correct and let's not forget we are talking mbna here!!

I have found Virgin take DD whether or not or when I have paid early, on the other hand, Barclaycard do not take DD if you have paid over the min amount, but only if you have paid this at least 5 working days before

This is why I pay all my Cards via Faster Payments and not set up a DD. When I have cancelled a DD all you have to do is notify your bank and not the company, so they have just made that rule up themselves. On none of my DD forms has it ever said to notify the company. It has only said to notify your bank. Why do you have to make two phone calls ?

That's very strange, because (as per the DD guarantee) all mine say...
You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify the organisation.

  • When I make a manual payment to my BHS card, they do not take the DD when it becomes due.

When I make a manual payment to my M&S card, they still take the DD when its due.

So obviously it all depends on the t&c of the cc provider.

But, if you pay off the balance in full, manually, before the DD is due, then obviously they can't, as there is no monies owed for them to take.
