Virgin Credit Card - Disgraceful act - HELP!
Comments
-
What rubbish some of you speak. Utter garbage..............Formally complain then go to the FOS. They had no right to do this and they're in direct breach of various acts none more so than the banking/lending code.
Obviously, you are a friend of the sledgehammer nut cracking approach. MBNA statements state clearly:Please remember your regular Direct Debit payment will always be taken, regardless of any additional payments you choose to make.
Yes, the DD can be manually pulled out of the system, but that requires a certain number of days notice which the OP failed to give. A pleasant phone call by the OP (presuming s/he can refrain from such purple prose as 'disgraceful') is likely to sort out the problem.
But then, I presume, that would be too pragmatic for your all-out drama approach.0 -
I have to Agree with auto-man - Just last month i paid 200 quid towards my Virgin CC Account before the DD was due to come out. The DD was not taken as i made the payment. The fact that the OP paid more than the minimum before the due date covers that month's payment. The DD had it not been canceled would not have been taken (or shouldnt have anyway) i think the fact it was cancelled has confused their systems.
Give them a call, speak to a manager and get your 12 quid back and also make sure they have not reported a late payment on your credit file.
Oh and Ben8282 - leave your attitude outside on your next post aye... Especially when your completely wrong lol0 -
sanfran ive just paid my virgin balance off ended up being £20 in credit once the overlapping interest had cleared the lady told me give her my bank details sortcode acc no. etc she would put them in her diary and credit my bank account next week ( i dont think so) and i dont think that is the correct procedure.
from reading regular post on here virgin seem one of the worst for sticking to the rules and not refunding any unfairly/ morally wrong placed fees0 -
Virgin are a joke.
I'm never wrong; you'll learn that about me.0 -
forgot to mention when i paid virgin said they would cancel my d/d0

I had a virgin cc with 0% for 10 months so I transferred the balance from my old cc which came to the end of its 0% period. I didn't set up a dd because I wanted to overpay as and when I could and for precisely the reasons in all these posts, didn't want the fuss and confusion so I paid by cheque but always paid early as soon as I got the statement. This was fine for 4 months then at christmas I sent off my cheque on 29th December - 1st class with proof of postage - payment date was 9th January. The next month i get a statement saying the payment didn't go through until 10th January and they charged me a £12 late fee and of course, I lost my 0% interest. I rang them but they wouldn't budge. I paid off the whole balance and cancelled the card (which was hilarious as they tried to stop me by offering me a 4% reduction on the original interest rate i had been quoted and by asking me why i wanted to 'cancel this lovely card' - Seriously!!)
I've paid off and closed down all 3 of my credit cards in the last year - I have one left with 0% til October by which time it will be clear and will also be on its way out. I'm a strictly cash only girl now - i do not intend to ever use a credit card again0 -
I'm always wrong; you'll learn that about me.
I've corrected your post to reflect the usual standard of your replies as is certainlythe case on this one.
It's a shame we have such blatant debt avoiders posting their carp on sites like these particularly when, trying to pursuade others to follow their own warped agenda, they give such terrible advice that can seriously hurt the posters looking for help.
Stick to the CAG where you can all wallow in your own self righteousness.0 -

Did you have difficulty in understanding? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -

And how much of my post above did you not understand.
What you are saying simply is not true or did i imagine them not taking any direct debit that month!?:rotfl:0 -

Frankly I don't believe your post as it is just not how it works in the real world. If your statement had stated that £x would be taken by dd on your due date then regardless of any subsequent payments you made the dd would have been taken.
I suspect you and Auto-man are one and the same just trying to build some credibility for your facile arguments.0
