Virgin Media - better deal for Phone M and Broadband L?

Currently paying £27.40, soon to be £28.90 for Phone M and Broadband L package.

If I phone and "bluff" to cancel could I get a better deal - cheaper wise not offering a higher package.

There's a high chance that they could give you a better deal, or you may as well just switch anyway as you can get evening+weekend calls plus unlimited downloads from £11 with other providers see here

The problem with threatening to cancel is that VM are well aware that without an ADSL line you are stuck with VM as your only provider unless you pay up for a new line provision.

Excatly that's the only thing that prevents me, I have a BT box installed in the house, did have a BT line coming in from outside, seems to have disappeared can't remember when.

It makes no difference if the line is physically in place or not-BT and the other telcoms charge the same for a new line or a reconnection (assuming no dial tone).
However it's probably still worth the £50 or so investment, which will soon be recouped in lower charges.
