May go for this as I plan to get SKY package,mainly as best option for TV/BB & phone. I originally fancied SKY+ & DVD system but object to £10 charge.

As I am planning to get LCD TV can you play back DVD via HDMI while recording to HDD at the same time?

I guess this will be a good system of off load my old 8mm & Hi8 camcorder footage to DVD.

Shame it doesn't have a home theatre amp built-in!!!!

Yes you can record to HDD or DVD while playing back from HDD or DVD. You don't even need HDMI to do so as normal scart will do as well.
