Quidco cashback when ordering O2 phones from CPW

Options
I'm coming near the end of my Orange contract, and am thinking of getting a new deal on O2 thru CPW. I want to port my number, but noticed for O2 sales with a number port, you have to speak to their e-sales team prior to purchase - does the sale get done over the phone, and hence be ineligible for quidco cashback.

Thanks

John

Yes the sale is completed over the phone and no you therefore cannot get cashback from Quidco or anywhere else - I was stung for £37 with this earlier this month. They claim that it is not possible to complete the order online but in reality they ask you the same details over the phone - it is apparently something to do with people having made too many mistakes in the past entering the PAC number online - why this would happen with o2 and not anyone else is anyone's guess (but the majority of their best offers are o2, therefore I suspect many are affected by this rule).

You can, of course, order o2 phones through e2save, OSPS or ThePhoneSpot completely online (all CPW group) and they don't seem to have the same rules on porting o2 numbers.

  • I ordered a phone through Phones4U on O2 last week.

After calling them first to see what the procedure was if I wanted to keep my number, they said all I had to to was to order the phone online, then when I received it, to give O2 a call and tell them that I wanted to keep my existing number.

So I called O2, gave them the PAC, and now I'm waiting to be ported over. My £32 from Quidco has tracked.

Maybe you can order the phone online, and just call up O2 after? So going through Quidco, at least you'd get the £30+ that Carphone Warehouse give.

You might want to phone O2 first to see if this is possible, their 0800 number is on https://www.saynoto0870.com

With o2 contracts ordered through CPW (or e2save etc owned by CPW) you can only transfer your number to o2 if you give the PAC code at the ordering stage. They state this clearly on their website and confirm this when you phone up (as instructed) during the ordering process. It may be a quirk of them using o2 CPW (they manage o2 accounts themselves on behalf of o2) but if you don't do it at the ordering stage, they say that you cannot port your number. Unlike other retailers, who send out a sim with a temporary number (and seem quite capable letting you type in the PAC code on the order form), with o2 CPW you get a SIM with no number until your number transfers in 7 days later. If anyone else knows anything different to this (or a workaround to get your Quidco cashback), please do comment as I would happily have the additional money :T as just two weeks into my contract.

I agree it is very annoying that the CPW system has been set up this way.
