I have no idea what this bit means but, as the HoC overturned the HoL amendment, the measures are still being planned to go ahead after going back to the Lords.

These changes will only affect Housing Benefit for people who rent from private landlords.0 -
So, just to clarify, someone can claim Pension Credit ahead of their state retirement age? I wasn't aware of that.
Women can claim guarantee pension credit at their state pension age, men can claim guarantee pension credit before state pension age - at the state pension age for a woman their age.0 -

The details haven't been finalised yet so Council Housing Staff won't be able to give you the correct details, this is probably the reason why the new changes aren't listed on the council's website, they need to be finalised first. But it is going to happen and anyone in a council house thinking they won't be affected are going to get a shock when it happens.
Put "bedroom tax" into google and all the results will tell you that council/local authority tenants will be affected.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

Have you even read the article? It's not applicable to your scenario which is why it hasn't been discussed. It's about shared accommodation for certain ages.
In the private sector, private tenants under the age of 25 were expected to share accommodation - they weren't eligible for sufficient LHA to cover the cost of a 1 bedroom self-contained property. In January this year, this age increased to 35, therefore only those 35 and over in private property could afford a 1 bedroom property to themselves.
So the article says they don't plan to introduce this to social housing tenants - tenants in the social sector can get HB to cover 1 bedroom places if they are single however young they are.
Probably the reason why a single person can live in a property that isn't shared in social housing is because there is no social housing that is designed for sharing with strangers or unrelated tenants which is common in the private sector.
No help to your situation whatsoever.0 -
It would be good to know how this would affect us.
There are 3 of us (2 adults & 1 child) we are technically in 3 bedroom house (according the council tax) but 2 of the bedrooms have been knocked into 1 for use of a wheelchair and through the floor lift, social services did this through the council, so we don't actaully have a spare room.september wins - toshiba laptop, timotei shampoo & conditioner, mccains games, pimms picnic blanket.
